Kevin and John .....

Am I the only one that has trouble keeping their voices apart? I don't post on the boards, but have been enjoying the podcasts for years. Since I don't know much more about them than what I hear, it wasn't until recently that I even understood they were two different people. They seem to have the same sense of humor, same taste in their reviews, and they sound the same. I find myself now fixating on who is saying what now while I listen to the podcast (Was that Kevin? No, John. No, it must be Kevin because he just said "John".) Anyway, John/Kevin, love your commentary !! I hope to work through my issues soon.

I had the same issue up until the cruise. I have a hard time catching information if it is purely through one source of input. If its purely audio or purely visual it might as well be written in Mandarin.
After seeing them speak during the live recording and on stage at the events they hosted, I could easily discern them.

I usually can tell the difference between Kevin and John now. But I do understand you hearing the similarity.

When I first started listening, it was just so many voices I did not attempt to tell them apart. I did not even try. As time went on, I was surprised how well I could identify them.

Pete is a great host. He often says then name of the other people around the "round table".

Agree, I had trouble telling them apart for a while. After meeting them and hearing them for so long now they don't sound anything alike to me. Sidenote, I thought Kevin was about 5'6" tall and 120 lbs from his voice! I kept picturing andy dick.

I had trouble too at first. Eventually you can tell them apart.

No, but I had the hardest time distinguishing John and Walter for a long time.

I have no problem identifying Walter's voice. He speaks slow and deliberate and smooth as silk. I think of him as the male Theresa. They should team up to do his and her late nite talk.

BTW, I did the Disneyland backstage tour last year. A group of us were sitting together in downtown Disney. I was sitting on a planter by myself when I heard this woman's voice. I instantly recognized it as belonging to Theresa. It was so weird. I spun around and there she was. That voice coming from an actual person. It was a real trip.

I'm good with everyone except Max/Walter. They sound exactly the same to me.

To me Kevin's voice is very distinctive. Dh and I were going to what turned into a Bob Memorial at Gaylord Palms, and were a little lost when trying to find the room.....I heard Kevin's voice and said to DH, "this is it, that's Kevin talking".

But....I've been listening to the podcasts for a long, long time and have had time to distinquish between all of them.

Maybe I just don't remember, but Kevin and John sound very different to me. I've always thought John sounds like Neil Cavuto though. If Neil ever comes on the podcast, I don't think I'd be able to tell him and John apart.

I don't ever remember having an issue but then again I met them at one of the first DIS meets so maybe that is why.

I had trouble telling John & Kevin apart at first, there is slight inflections that are different, but the overall tone of their voices is about the same.

I don't have any problem telling Max & Walter apart - Max has a lispy sound which comes from wearing braces that comes across when he speaks.

I had trouble distinguishing voices, too. Even after I knew the voices, I still didn't know which name went with which voice. Eventually, you just know.

Kevin, though, is like the easiest of the bunch. I knew his voice before anyone else's. I don't think he sounds anything like John.

A friend and I drove to WDW and in the car, she said we should listen to another podcast, so we did. Like one minute in, I said, "Wait, did he say Kevin's name? I don't want to listen if Kevin isn't there."

My friend said, "Is he the one with the high voice?" She'd heard ONE podcast, but she knew the voice and that he's the guy I'd want to hear. After I said, "Yup, that's the one" and she was rewinding, she said, "I like him, too."

Kevin and Bob were the easiest to tell. Then I got Pete. Then John, by process of elimination, kinda.

I think John sometimes has a slightly raspy quality to his voice, but nowhere near the smoker's voice that Pete has. But after hearing Jeff Garlin's voice as Buttercup the unicorn in Toy Story 3, I think John would be able to pull off that voice.

My favorite comment was actually from Kathy. She once admitted, "People tell me I sound just like Roseanne."

Yes you sound a lot like Roseanne, Kathy. Fortunately, you look NOTHING like her.

But it was fun watching them speak while listening them tape a live show. It was a bit surreal to be there instead of listening on my iPod.
