For all of you that own a keurig what are some pros and cons? My husband really wants ones i am not sold yet. So i thought I would ask all of you. Thanks!

I just got one a few days ago and I can say I love it! It makes coffee super fast. There is no mess or cleanup involved. There is a huge variety of flavors to make everyone happy. Even my 5 yo daughter was sitting on the bed this morning drinking a cup of tea while I was having my coffee. Ive only had it a few days but so far I love it.

For our house, a Keurig is a great idea. I do not drink coffee (well, occasionally 'fancy coffee') and my husband usually drinks 1 or 2 cups and would throw the rest of the pot out. We were wasting a lot of coffee.

Now he can have a cup of coffee in a few minutes and i'm not making a pot and dumping it down the drain. I have a few flavored coffees that I make for myself on occasion, and I don't have to scrub the pot to make sure all the rest of the coffee that is made doesn't taste like hazelnut or french vanilla.

However- when my parents come for a visit, I haul out the old coffee maker- they will drink a pot for breakfast! It would get really expensive fast if I had to supply them with k-cups.

I also bought the My K-cup filter that you can use your own ground coffee...I haven't had any luck with it and usually just make a horrible mess! Some people I know have great luck with it :confused3 I guess I just don't possess that skill

I agree with both about the ease of having a Keurig. We got ours in 2009 for Christmas and love it! My husband and I are not huge coffee drinkers so when we are in the mood for a cup this works out fantastic. I also just got the my k-cup filter and love that as well. Sometimes it can be a pain but what isnt these days right? IMO the keurig is great for just about every need you may have. The cons would be the price of k-cups when you use them frequently but we joined the keuirg k cup club and often recieve buy 2 boxes get 2 free with free shipping and 10% off so we end up with 96 k cups for about 26 dollars! Not too bad!!

I agree with all of the previous posts and have a con to add...

I miss the smell of the coffee brewing - especially in the morning. The single cup does smell nice but there is nothing like the scent of a fresh pot for us coffee lovers!

We really like the concept, but we've had two machines stop working on us so far.

I just got one for my birthday this weekend! Actually, I got a Mr. Coffee version but it uses the K-cups and was $30 less expensive! I LOVE it! Ilike fancy flavored coffee and my husband likes regular coffee so we can each have what we want

Which models do u guys have? Thinking of getting the platinum one is that a good one?

I agree with all the responses you've gotten so far. The Keurig has been wonderful for our family. We all get our favorite cups, and I don't get the mess of cleaning up/throwing out the pot.

I try to keep our cups to 40 cents each if possible. The only con my dh has it that he like his coffee super hot, so he pops his cup in the microwave after he brews it. No biggie for him. We only have one cup a day each so it works out great. Anytime we have company though, I also pull out the coffee pot. However, I do get a look of disappointment from our guests!! LOL

I also want to suggest to Disnydad: Did you try descaling the machine with vinegar? I have read that people have thrown out their machines without doing this first. Also, did you try to clean out the puncture needle with a toothpick or pin. Sometimes a coffee ground gets lodged in there and stops the water from going thru.

Did you call tem? Our 1 1/2 year old machine died, I called, and they just sent me a new one for free - I missed it SO much during those 2 weeks!

My first one died at a little over a year, I called and had a new one with in 4 days. Their customer service is awesome.

Op we love our machine, we don't drink but a cup a day each and we love all the flavors to choose from.

Love our Keurig, got it as a gift. I bought the reusable filter and we have had great luck with it. I love that there is never a pot of burned coffee ever! Always the perfect temperature, whatever flavor we want.

Thanks for all the responses We have decided to take the plunge and buy one we already placed our first order on the keriug web site and are well on our way to earning points!:rotfl2::rotfl2: i feel like a little kid with a new toy woo hoo!

I got 2 for Christmas, one for home, one for work. I also got the K-Kaps, which, coupled with a small square of Glade Press 'n' Seal wrap over the top of the Kap makes reusing the expensive K-Cups much more palatable to my budget. As soon as I get a little extra $$, I'm also going to invest in a couple of Solofill reusable cups.

I got one for the family for Christmas (kids are all 18 or older). It is great, we are not really a big coffee drinker family, but the kids enjoy a flavored coffee now and again. What we like about it is single servings, if someone wants a coffee, tea,or hot chocolate one cup is made and no real clean up. I like it for the tea and hot chocolate. I also use it to heat the water for hot chocolate from the big container.

Tip: If you do not like your coffee or tea really strong, you can use the k-cups more than once. For me I prefer my tea on the weak side, so I have used the green tea k-cup 3 times and am satisfied with the drink.

I have not used the reusable k-cup yet, but we all like the idea that the more expensive individual pre filled k-cups are not necessary to enjoy the ease of single serve.

I also like the fact that if company would come over, they can pick and make thier own beverage and I don't have to worry do I have filters and is the coffee for company fresh enough.

Okay - what is the K-Kap? And what exactly do you mean by reusing?

See it here: http://www.my-kap.com/MYK/ they also have them at Amazon which is where I got mine.

You empty the used K-Cup and wash it out. Let it dry, refill it with your favorite coffee, snap on the K-Kap and brew. I had a few issues with it not giving a good seal, plus there's a hole in the top of the K-Kap and I need to transport my cups, so I slapped on about a 2.5"x2.5" of the press 'n' seal wrap over the top of the whole shebang. Transports beautifully and works great. I've gotten about 10 uses out of one cup before the inner filter goes bad. The website also has directions on how to make your own filters, but that's a bit too much work for me.

The Solofill is here:http://www.solofill.com/ it will be my next purchase for my Keurig (if they ever get them back in stock!)

We love our Keurig. DH and I bought it for our mother's/father's day gift last year. I am not a huge coffee drinker and I like "froofy" coffee so I can have what I like and so can dh. I also use it for tea, cocoa and hot water. DH is one of those who'd brew a pot, drink two cups and leave a big mess for me to deal with.

I would suggest getting the filters for it and descaling it periodically as well. They do seem to work better if you do that.

We ended up buying one for the in-laws for Christmas and they were thrilled. It's nice for us too because we can now send gift certificates for k-cups for other holidays!

Thanks! I went to the kitchen and pryed open the kcup I left in the keurig. I didn't realize they each had their own little filter. I've tried the My K-Cup but wasn't impressed. The coffee was weak. I did google and saw the Solofil and k caps.

What is different about the solofil, versus the my k cup?

I bought my DH a Keurig for Christmas 2009. It has been a great investment! My DH likes to drink coffee and I do not. It would take forever for him to brew the half-pot he would drink and now he can brew 1-3 cups in a fraction of the time. He likes flavoured coffees so he can have a different flavour for each cup if he wants. Also, we order most of our K-cups online and there is a HUGE selection for non-coffee drinkers like myself. We have several varieties of teas; white, dark and milk hot chocolate and, my favourite, a very delicious chai tea latte that sells out all the time! In the summer they also sold some iced coffee and juice drinks (I'm assuming you brew them and pour them over ice).

It's nice not to have to clean out the machine all the time so you don't get other flavours mixed in, and we really like that everyone can have a different drink in the same amount of time it takes to brew a single pot of coffee.
