Has anyone traveled to Disney while on the keto diet? Just wondering if it's possible or how hard it would be.

I haven't but I have a lot of experience working with different diets. First, take a look at the menus at the places you're thinking about going to. Most places will have salads at least, though you might have some difficulty with the dressings if they contain sugar or other additives. Also most table service restaurants will be more than willing to accommodate and prepare dishes you can eat without an issue. You can always talk to the chef and they will prepare what you want basically. I'd bring snacks with me though if you're a snacker.

I imagine this goes for being on the Cambridge Weight Plan too. I'm currently on step 2 though progressing nicely and aiming to be able to eat reasonably healthily when I am in WDW in 6/52 time. We're carefully picking our favourite restaurants and looking at the other options on-site. It certainly is fun to research the menus.

Table service would seem easiest. buffets would have plenty of filling options... the hard part is just the temptation obviously...but there's usually plenty of meats, hot & cold veggie options, boiled eggs, peel & eat shrimp etc... enough to overflow a plate:) We enjoy a lot of steak, grilled shrimp, and scallops on vacation wether doing low carb or not. Homecoming has deviled eggs but I haven't checked ingredients. Ohana has a ton of meats. The seafood boil at Paddlefish looks good too. Not as many things pop into mind for quick service.. we hope to try Polite Pig ...smoked meats, wedge salad with smoked chicken,Brussels sprouts, charred broccoli, BBQ cauliflower, etc... will have to investigate sauces of course. Maybe some of the burger quick services that have fixins bars... load up a cheesy patty with those grilled mushrooms & other toppings. BB Wolf Sausage Company sounds good. Our son was doing a max of 25 carbs per day (epilepsy) so he could usually squeeze in some sauces

I will just tell you where/what I'm planning to eat though I haven't done Disney whilst Keto yet (November trip is booked)
Sautu'li in Animal Kingdom has steak bowls with greens and fatty sauces
Turkey Leg and a pickle in Liberty Square
Cheese boards and charcuterie platters everywhere I go
STEAK! I plan to sub green beans or other veg for potatoes wherever I eat
Tuna nicoise or pork at Be Our Guest
Boma buffet and Trail's End for breakfast-lots of available foods
Sunshine Seasons!

Doing Disney on a diet just sucks. We regularly are low carbers but at Disney we eat like pigs. Beer, wine, dessert parties. It is possible though just pick your restaurants and menus carefully.

Gosh, this is SOOOO us. Always start out with good intensions and pick places were we can get protein/veggies/fruits, but we cave so quickly. And don't regret one minute of our piggy vacations.

Best of luck to you - I think you will find plenty of options. Some you may have to pick off what you don't want (here's to willpower!!!).

I have been on Atkins Induction levels since January; so Keto diet without worrying about my protein levels. Sorry, but I plan on eating as I please at Disney. We have free dining bounceback for September. All the desserts are mine!

The problem is Disney doesn't have dietary information available. I think you can make smart keto choices if you want. Just be aware, the carb count might be a little higher than you anticipate. The salad dressings might have more carbs than you realize. I once got a package of ranch dressing from McDonalds that has 12 carbs in it. But if you want to try and stay on plan. Order your meats plain, no sauces and low carb vegetables on the side. Caesar salads with no croutons would probably be a good choice too. I'm not sure how customize-able counter service salad would be. There are a couple of places with salmon and steak plus vegetable choices at counter service. (Columbia House, ABC Commissary). You could omit the starch and still stay on the low carb side.

It would be 100 times easier w a kitchen, maybe a DVC resort?

Otherwise, bunless burgers w toppings bar
Sub out sides as needed
TS choices can be easily modified
Buffets stick to what you know and butter your protein
Get heavy cream for your room fridge for coffee
If you do bpc I saw a very cool ice cube trick for the cream and butter

One of the greatest things about Keto is the lack of hunger. I don't plan to eat more than one meal a day after my bulletproof coffee (which is breakfast). Also, remember to salinate your water and get in your magnesium. I really think you can do it. Sure, you might accidentally ingest 60 carbs but as long as you're working the Keto, you will be fine. I was just on vacation and there was a little cheating for sure. But never more than 60 carbs and I stayed in ketosis and did not gain weight. You can do it!'

We have been keto for a year and have been to Disney at the midpoint. We are currently planning future trips and keeping keto in mind. My main tip would be to book as many buffets as possible. I do not see how it is possible at all to be keto at most table service restaurants (low-carb maybe, but not specifically keto). Obviously, you need to make good choices at the buffets, but they offer you the most options. Quick service is just about impossible btw from our experience. This might sound super weird, but a keto friend of ours takes avacados with him to meals and it's something we are going to start and maybe even at Disney (although possibly just for the hotel room!). Good luck!

Been there done that. Turkey legs. Deconstructing burgers to just eat the meat and veggies. Giant pickles. Chicken salads. Have to be a little resourceful and get creative sometimes.

I am keto at home, but not strictly keto at Disney. I do a lot of dinner TS though, to be able to have my meals the way I want them - veggies/meat/seafood. I take almonds and quest bars in my bag and eat Turkey legs/rotisserie chicken/deconstructed burger for lunch. I was never a morning person, even before keto, so I usually do tea, but if I find myself hungry, I usually get an omelet or if it needs to be quick, I'll order the bounty platter at QS and eat the eggs, sausage and bacon.

That said, I cheat if I feel like it (I'm a sucker for basically anything for the French bakery and ice cream shop). It's vacation! I'll be strict when I'm back home.

Kudos to all of those who have been able to stick to Keto while at WDW. I always end up going off plan!

I've successfully done low carb at WDW on the QS dining plan. So, that part is possible. I think with keto your main challenge will be staying low carb while still trying to get enough fats. Are you willing/able to bring some snacks with you? I'm thinking fat bombs, heavy cream, real butter, macadamia nuts, coconut oil, etc.

The PP who brought up the option of fasting makes a good point too. That can sometimes be easier than trying to find something appropriate to eat!
