Ketchikan Plane Crash - HAL Excursion

Doesn't look good. Sounds like another controlled flight into terrain accident. Unfortunately not uncommon in Alaska.

Very sad.:( Thoughts and prayers to all those involved.

Update just came that no one survived the crash. Heartbreaking. Prayers for peace for the family.

Just saw this online. So very awful. Prayers for the families of those lost today. ❤ :(

Just read an update online.....how heartbreaking.....I can't even imagine. Prayers for the families of the victims.

We just did this same excursion less than 2 weeks ago (it was with a different company). My heart breaks for the families.

Unfortunately, accidents happen. We were on the first DCL DVC Member Alaskan cruise a few weeks back and were astounded by the number of planes that fill the skies in Vancouver and Alaska. Float planes are literally taking off and landing every second of the day in all kinds of weather conditions. There are apparently more planes than cars or people in Alaska. While tragic, I would not cancel my shore excursion just because of this. The experiences provided by the planes and helicopter tours are incredible.

Just want to add my heartfelt sadness and my prayers to the families of those lost in this plane accident. Dreadfully sad.

Though it's hard to imagine, I do agree with Empress Room that accidents happen, and that those that have similar excursions scheduled should not be afraid to proceed and enjoy. The likelihood of this happening again soon is pretty small.

Wow, just terrible. I can't imagine what it's like on that ship after such a disaster. My heart goes out to the families. It says in the story that it was a tour of the Misty Fjords. We were in Ketchikan last June (I took the Alaska Rainforest excursion) and I remember DCL also offers a flightseeing of the Misty Fjords. I wonder if this is the same excursion.

Definitely gives me newfound respect for the decision to cancel our excursion doing the exact same thing June 2014 due to weather. This is so sad... I hope no one suffered.

It's quite possible, most of the cruise lines contract with the same tour operators.
