Here is proof.

Tony Larussa and the Cardinals should play the remainder of the Series under protest.

I'm a Cards fan, but could it not be true that that could have been dirt? I realize pine tar is a banned substance, but what advantage could it have given him anyway? I"m not being sarcastic I'm really interested in knowing. And I'm not saying that if it turns out it was a banned substance that he shouldn't suffer the consequences.

What is it? That dirt looking stuff on his hand? I know nothing about baseball. Why does that picture mean he is a cheater?

I saw some other pics of him and that isn't dirt. I don't know what it is but it isn't dirt.

I would also like to add that I thought this was about the singer Kenny Rogers and I thought since he got his new "look" he was cheating on his wife or something. lol :)

I thought you meant the singer. :rotfl2:

My first thought when reading the title was "yeah, so, we all know that". But then when I clicked it open I couldn't figure out why you were showing pictures of his hands. :confused3 :rotfl:

Whoa, Dude. Look at your post count. 666, freaky. If it wasn't a banned substance why did he wash it off? If it didn't have an effect on the trajectory of the ball why would it be banned? Circular reasoning? You bet. I don't know. I'm just thowing this out there. Admittedly with pine tar or worse on the ball I'm throwing.

Pine tar (or any sticky substance on a baseball) will alter the curve of the ball, making it very hard to hit.

That was pine tar, not dirt. He was cheating. But Tony LaRussa could have complained last night and he didn't. He should have, but Jim Leyland is his friend & he didn't want to show up his friend.

Me too :p

On ESPN i think this morning they were showing pics of his hand from the previous series (division, and alcs) and he had the same "stain" on his hand in the same area- He said in the post game press conference it was just some dirt he did not know was there (yeah OK) I don't really know what to think about it clearly there is something there and the when they read the rules on Baseball tonight (this morning) he should have been ejected from the game for having ANY substnce on his hands- although Tony and the Cards did not protest and they don't seem to be making a big deal about it so should everybody else? Pine Tar or whatever or nor - that is not reason enough for the loss -even for a die hard Cards fan! :yay:

MosMom I think the problem is when a pitcher puts different stuff on his hands instead of them being "clean" the ball moves in different ways- which can be good but is against the rules- like a corked bat would be.

Me too! I expected to see a photo of him sitting in the stands with another woman! :lmao:

Second picture looks pretty similar to the first. Just smudged. Someone could have done a better job photoshopping!

I hear ya, cute daughter by the way.

It just seems to me that pine tar would be sooooo easily farreted out, I mean they change the balls out on practically every pitch and the umps are constantly changing balls, inspecting them etc., it just seems that it would be unlikely 'cause it would be so easy to catch. But I'm certainly no expert on pine tar. I thought it was mainly used on bats, for the old George Brett scandal. I don't know, it just seems unlikely to me because one, is it going to give him that much of an edge, and two, who would want to be remembered for being thrown out of this world series for cheating. But stranger thiings have happened. At least it doesn't look like Kenny has been taking any growth hormones!

The word was that the umps did inspect his hand and it was just dirt, Rome also just said that, and I remember hearing that last night.

Now they're reporting that Kenny was actually munching down on some KR Roasters chicken right before he went up to pitch. Ummmm, could that be KR Roasters banned chicken grease?

Not that I agree with this, but in baseball, it's only cheating if you get caught.

In football, it is "cheating" if you go offsides and the ref misses it? Or if there's holding and the ref misses it? If so, then every single football game should be played "under protest", because I'm sure it happens multiple times every game.

Go Tigers.

I don't have a horse in this race and I gotta believe something fishy is going on. I mean yeah we all get dirt on our hands playing ball, but why are there photos from other games and series where he has dirt in the same exact spot on his hand. si.com has those photos.

Here is another article to ponder
