Any opinions about Kennedy Space Center? We are thinking about taking a day & renting a car to head out there. How far is it from Disney? Is it worth spending a day away from the World?

My husband wanted to do Kennedy this past trip..I was so dreading it...but, turns out we all really enjoyed it. We actually spend 1.5 days there...it is worth seeing, but I would not do it again for a long time.

We are going again this year. My kids are the perfect age to enjoy it (10,7) and truly interested in history and space. We did not do the bus tour last time and we were disappointed in the experience. My parents went with us the same day and did the tour and thought Kennedy was amazing.

The ride was about an hour from Disney.

I think it'd be neat. I used to work for a University and we trained NASA and so I have been to many a NASA center. Kennedy was definitely my favorite. Really neat visitor's center. It seems it's about an hour's drive.

My kids are too young to appreciate it or we'd go this time. (5 & 2)

I LOVE KSC!!!! But I am also a NASA and Space buff (or geek). I was able to go there in 08 when they were having an autograph show. I was able to meet a lot of the true historical heroes of our Country from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo days. Also, if you do decide to go, make sure you make time for the Astronaut Encounter. That is where you can meet, ask questions of and get a picture made with one of the astronauts. Also, do the bus tour. A lot of awesome history there.

Kennedy Space Center hadn't really interested us until we saw the blog from the company we rent from last year. It got us interested and we went. It was a great day out and we really enjoyed it. It left us with a sense of awe and that all things are possible if enough people want them to be. I'll try and find the blog link.

We went in December of 2007 for the morning only (after the Disney cruise prior to plane departure). We got the bus tour, but didn't get the most expensive package. Think we got coupons from the car rental agency for $3.00 off per ticket. The main reason we went was to see a rocket launch that was scheduled for the day which was really interesting for the family. The countdown was broadcast live throughout the park.
