We have driven to Port Canaveral after visiting KSC and had a meal at Grills. It's good food and nice watching the boats and cruise ships.

there are at least 2 places to eat, 1 on the tour (eaten here twice) and 1 next to the imax theatres.
Where we ate on the tour it was usual burgers and like, not great food but easier than taking food with you.
Would probably try the other place next time.

There was definitely a hot food counter in the Apollo 11 building on the backlot tour. Very filling and delicious and a decent selection of the usual fare plus non-alcoholic drinks and I think they had kids choices too.. there was plenty of tables and chairs so you can sit inside out of the sun.
It's well worth a look in that part of Kennedy Space Centre and they was interactive areas ideal for the whole family, and for those with young'uns the restrooms are easily accessible too

If you decide to take something with you it will have to be left in the car. KSC is an Air Force base with very high security, you cannot take backpacks or other large items in, everything is searched and even cameras have to be switched on to prove they are real.

Hi,
From memory we left KSC and headed back to the 528 beachline. When you get to it instead of heading West back to Orlando go East towards Port Canaveral. There will then be signs giving directions to the ports recreation area. Click the link below for some maps.
