Is it worht it? We are going to stay at the New Country Inn and Suites the night before the cruise... I've read some mixed opinions through a search. We are 2 adults- should we do it or skip it? Thanks!

If you are asking if the KSC is worth doing, you have my vote. My whole family absolutely loved it!! They also want to go back for another visit when we take our next trip in December 2007 though this time we will go before the cruise.

:cheer2:

Took the familiy in summer 2006 for a KSC up close private tour it was excellent the lady tour guide so informative and as we booked it on a Thursday we were able to see the Wonder in port from the tour.

I used to have an annual pass there! If you are interested in the Space Program, there is no better place to go. There are two IMAX screens that are included in the price of admission and the Apollo/Saturn V Center is fabulous. Make sure you do all of the exhibits there...I saw alot of people skip the Lunar Landing theater and it is a great show that takes you through the first landing step by step. Plus, there is nothing in the world that can truly demonstrate the size and power of the Saturn V rocket until you are standing underneathe it.

We went to KSC after we disembarked from our cruise. DS10 and DH absolutely LOVED it because they are very interested in the space program. DD and I were a little bored but mostly because we were exhausted from the 10 day vacation we'd just had and so we honestly didn't get into it very much. It was still interesting though and an experience that is worth having so I say you should go. :thumbsup2

We enjoyed it, and we didn't even stop to see the iMAX movies. The stops on the bus tour were very informative, and even my 6 year old enjoyed his day.

Our 6 y.o. son loved it! We found it took all day to see and we didn't see everything! Just remember that if you are going in the winter it can be cool. Our late March visit was 60 degrees with a strong wind - we froze as we had packed for the warmer caribbean weather!

I'm so glad to hear this. We are taking our DS6 and DS2 prior to our cruise. Do they allow strollers?

Thank you!

Yes, Yes and Yes, do it. If you take the up close tour, they have added a new stop to it. They stop just outside the Vehicle Assembly Building and let you get out and take some good photos. When I was there last Thursday (12/28), I got to watch them unload a new External Fuel tank from the shipping barge. WOW! They also had the VAB doors open just enough for you to peek inside and watch them prepare the next shuttle for launch.:yay:

When I was there 2 years ago, they did not have this new stop on the tour. It was anice treat. Best time to see something is during the weekday as it is afterall a working spaceport.

:thumbsup2

Also, get there early when they open at 9am. The tours fill up fast!

If you want to plan ahead, you should check out the KSC website. We paid ahead and knew exactly what we wanted to do.

Spend some time exploring the KSC website to figure out what you want to do and when.

You can , but you won't see as much as you would on the tours. For the extra $20 it's well worth it.

Does anybody know the best way to get from Country Inn & Suites to KSC without renting a car?
TIA :)

Just to give you another side of the story, we went at Christmas and absolutley HATED it. We didnt do much found it extremely boring and left.

Now if we had a guided your that might be different, but to tour your slef, i found it less than special!

It depends on you. Will you enjoy it? Do you like the space shuttles? I enjoyed it as a child. I still do as an adult If the space program does not interest you at all then dont go. If it does do go as you will enjoy it.

I agree. About 90% of the tings to see is on the tour itself. I was there a few days after Christmas 2006 and did not get the tour that I wanted as it was sold out. I was tempted to leave, but bit the bullet and took the other tour. I'm glad that I did. Since it's "a working spaceport" there is a better chance of seeing something that you wouldn't normally see (for example seeing an external fuel tank being off loaded from its transport barge)...a BIG surprise to the tour groups that day!

But in order to see that you have to be on the tour. Sure I was kinda of bored with the other stuff at the vistors complex, but the exciting stuff is on the actual tour. DW was not excited to go there this second time so she sent me off to the spacecoast by myself and she went to WDW, so i can see how you feel. They are in the works on revamping the visitor center with new attractions.

Personally, i'd give it another try the next time you are in Florida. You might find it a bit more exciting that time around with the guided tour.

Click on the link in the sig line and take a look at the photos from my KSC trip. This will give you an idea of what there is to see away from the Visitor Complex that is not shown on the KSC website.

Anyways that's my $0.02.
