I have been assigned Ken Weaver as a planner and am having lots of trouble finding a date he is available. I am thinking of requesting a different person. Is this majorly frowned upon? Has anyone had him as a planner? Comments? I am not that impressed so far and this is terribly prejudiced, but he sounds a little too straight to be a wedding planner. The last time I entrusted a straight man to do a gay man's job I ended up with a horrible mullet haircut! :)

I believe Ken Weaver was featured in the Fairtale Weddings program that the Travel Channel aired a few months ago. He seemed like a good planner, unless I'm remembering the name wrong. :>

Ken is my planner--we're actually meeting with him on Monday for our big planning session day. To be honest, I think that ALL of the planners have a very, very busy schedule--between attending so many weddings and planning them too! It was hard to find the "perfect" day for our session as well, but Ken tried to be as flexible as possible and was more than willing to work with us until we were satisfied. Ken has been very nice to me on the phone and he's worked for Disney Weddings for many years, so I feel confident of his abilities :) I'm excited to meet him on Monday :Pinkbounc

I have Ken Weaver as my wedding planner. I just met with him on Friday for my planning session, and I was VERY impressed!!! And so was my fiancee, and he was a lot more skeptical of the whole Disney wedding process than I was. Ken is EXTREMELY busy, I think they all are. But he has been very accomodating with me so far. Sometimes I get emails from him at 9pm, and he is always quick to get back with me. It was a little hard setting up our planning session, but that was more to do with our crazy schedules than his. We gave him four possible dates and I think he was free at least two of the four dates. Plus you also have to coordinate with your catering manager if you want to do a food tasting. It's a lot of peoples schedules that have to match. Don't worry though, I think you are in VERY good hands.

I had Ken as my Wedding Event Manager for my DFTW in April, and HE IS AWESOME!!! Yes, he very busy (they all are!), but he will go out of his way on your big day to make sure that it's flawlessly executed and perfect in every way. He gives new meaning to the words "professional" and "dedicated."

As far as the "straight man" comment is concerned, please know that Ken really knows his stuff. He was a florist and owned his own Florist Shop for many, many years before coming to Disney. So, as you can imagine, this gives him an incredible perspective on the wedding industry. Although they may be a rare commodity in this world, there are "straight men" out there who really are capable of paying attention to detail and make things as "pretty" as they can be, and Ken is one of them! :-)

Trust me, there's a reason why Ken was only Wedding Event Manager that Disney allowed to be featured on the Travel Channel special!!! Disney just doesn't let anyone be interviewed for those types of very high-profile opportunities!
