Kelly Clarkson Concert

We went for Kc and the Sunshine Band-they were at the Mel's Diner stage. We couldn't even see him. Too busy, too smokey. I have preteen boys and it was even a bit much for them to be at it. They are 5'3 and 5'8 so it's not like they are little, just too many people pushing and shoving.

Then my husband and I went to see Bare Naked Ladies. We got there about 7:30 and the place was really packed in for the parade and then concert. The new stage area was full and overflowing. We could see the video screens but that's kinda like watching MTV or something. The one thing that bugged us the most was the parade stilt walkers dancing around with each other during the show and blocking the view. They were just partying, not really interacting with the crowd. I wouldn't go back again for a concert there. Too busy, not enough viewing area. We probably won't renew our passes next year, didn't feel we got our $'s worth this year.

My mother (wheel chair), Sister, sisters friend, and myself went to the concert... we actualy made a weekend out of it by going friday for boys like girls so we could also see the parade.

I know someone who is Special Events at universal, he was scheduled for 1pm when he is normally scheduled for 5pm... though they had to pull people from IOA's cheerleading event to patrol the baracade queue as people were linning up at 9am for a spot in the ampitheater.

The area is designed not bad.. though the handicap area being on the sidewalk near the tech booth (not on the street, but the next one) made is hard for guests put there to see...

crowd contol was insane..mind you if Rockit was not under construction they might have opened a back gate and emptied out backstage but with the construction that was not possible, but they did have the blue man gate open, as well as all turnstyles.. including the entrance ones being used to get everyone out.

during the concert was not bad... mind you, they added a jumbo tron to newyork street in front of the tribune buulding... and because of the held kelly's start time till ~9:30 as the parade had to clear the area before guests could gather around the jumbotron.

My sisters friend used her 7 day free pass for friday and saturday... and I bet a lot of others did as well, not to mention the after 5 tickets and annual passes.. The gates were reported to have been closed for a period of time that day with the park at capacity...but I never did confirm that.

all in all, great concert!

even if there was no Mardi Gras at all or concerts i would find it hard to say i did not get my money's worth to renew my annual pass. So much to do and lots of fun to be had at both parks for just over $100.00 renewal. :cool2:

Some changes have been made on team member comp tickets: All concert event dates are now blocked out for the summer concert series and next year's Mardi Gras concert series.

when did this happen? i haven't received a notice yet that my tickets are blocked out for these dates. the only black out dates that i have are for specific holidays. i don't think they're going to get rid of the 2 free after 5 comp passes for mardi gras completely, they may limit which days they can go but i highly doubt that they will completely do away with the after 5 tickets.

^^^^^

Check PM's.

And after 5 tickets will continue, as there are many people who utilize them. They just may be purchase only...
