Kellogg's waffle shortage

Today I went to the store for my weekly grocery shopping. This is the second week that the store was out of my DD's favorite breakfast item, Kellogg's Eggo waffles. Today there was a sign on the freezer door that explained it. Apparently Kellogg has experienced a problem and their production is not up to normal. Here is an explanation posted at their web site: http://www2.kelloggs.com/general.aspx?id=3006&terms=eggo

Question:

I have not been able to find Eggo® waffles in the store. When will they be available again?

Answer:

Eggo recently experienced supply constraints caused by flood damage at our bakery in Atlanta. In addition, we've been making significant equipment and repairs in our largest waffle bakery. Unfortunately, this is taking longer than anticipated.

Eggo is working around the clock to bring everyone's favorite waffles back to store shelves as quickly as possible. We hope to regain full distribution of Eggo products by the middle of 2010. This is a top priority for Kellogg Company.

Wow! The middle of next year!
So, for those of you that like their waffles, buy them when you see them. Apparently we may not see on a regular basis for a while.

My DD7 may not survive this! LOL! ;)

It does seem like a LONG time though! Time to hoard LOL!

I just bought a huge box of 64, I think, at Sam's Club about a week ago. Hopefully that will last me til they get things back to normal.

Hmm I haven't really noticed this lately but I live in battle Creek, Michigan which is cereal city and home of Kellogg's. not syaing that is why we haven't had the problem I probably haven't been payign attention when at the store.

If I can find them here, I'm going to start selling Eggos on e-bay ;).

I saw that at the store too but didn't think much of it but WOW a year before they are back in the stores-I hope they have good insurance to cover the business interruption!!

Yikes! Middle of 2010? They must have had some pretty darn significant damage!!

try the store brand. my DD can't tell the difference.

I as an adult can. :lmao: I've tried Kashi, 3 store brand, and the Aunt Jemimia. My next step is making my own waffles.

And yes I'm an adult who likes her Eggo's for breakfast on a regular basis. :rolleyes1 I'm dying here.

DS (3) practically lives on waffles. I now have three boxes in the freezer because I heard this last week. DH asked what was up when he saw three boxes this week.

No wonder! I went to buy some last week and I couldn't find the blueberry, dd's favorite... I love just popping them in the toaster when we're running behind in the morning before school. I bought the Aunt Jemima blueberry waffles and they SUCK!

Eggo, come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!

I told my hubs to buy several boxes at the comissary today. He came home with 4 boxes of 10, hopefully that should last for awhile. Eggos are one of the few things my preggo belly can tolerate, so I reallllly need them, lol.

My kids love the Cinnamon Toast Waffles and we haven't been able to find them for a long time. DH found the explanation on the website so we've known for a few weeks they'd be hard to find. Now the freezers are completely wiped out of all waffles when we go to the store.

We managed to find Walmart's brand of cinnamon waffles and they were awful unless you used syrup (which we never do with the Eggo brand).

If I ever find them I'll buy them out. I have 2 freezers :teeth:

I was looking for the strawberry ones today and I couldn't find one box. I didn't think twice. I was just going to pick up some the next time I went. Now I wonder if I will experience their delicious strawberry waffles anytime soon.

I have tried the store brand, and DD noticed the difference. I also tried some other brand before when it was on sale ( I can't remember the name though), and DD noticed the difference then too. I will do what I can to get the Eggo's, but we may have to learn to live with a different brand now.......or toast...........;)

The flood was pretty darned bad. My home wasn't hurt as bad as lots of others and I'm STILL displaced. I'm just praying it'll be done by Christmas.

I will NEVER underestimate what water can do....:sad1:

NOOO!! I don't think I can make it until 2010!!

While I don't eat them for breakfast, Eggos are my go-to snack!

My Target has had that sign up for several weeks. I wondered what was up. Wow, that's a long time!

We noticed that Meijer has been out of Eggos for a while too but didn't know the reason. We tried the store brand and surprisingly found them to be good. My kids like them better than Eggos so I doubt we will be going back to them.
