Wondering what tips people had on keeping your iPhone safe & dry on certain rides like splash mountain and Kali River Rapids.

2 words. Ziploc bag.

A small bag from the stores will work in a pinch. Put your phone in it and wrap it around.

I usually give my phone to my wife who is scared of the Splash Mountain drop. You could do that. :rotfl:

Otherwise use a ziploc. These people speak the truth!

ditto except I give everything to DH who "doesn't like to get wet" when we go on Kali. if everyone wants to ride again ziplock! On Kali you're not going underwater but you can get really wet. A ziplock will protect your phone just fine.

I went swimming with my iPhone at Typhoon Lagoon. In fact, I kept my phone in my pocket the whole time we were at the water parks. ::yes::

But this is total overkill for a wet ride.

If you want to go this route there is a company that you can send your phone to where they put it in a vacuum chamber and treat it such a way that's it totally submersible ,while on, without a water proof case.

Ziploc bag. The are also lockers at the entrance to Kali if you want to stow it there while you ride.

I'm another Lifeproof fan. Not only does it protect them on any water ride, it protects them poolside and/or in any rain storm you might get caught in.

Most people are going to buy a case for their iPhone anyway, Lifeproof right now offers the best value for a high quality waterproof case.

We got caught in rain torrential rain at AK one year and didn't have anything to protect our wallets or phones. We ended up asking a cast member in one of the gift shops for a small bag (the ones they put the merchandise in) and we put all our stuff in it, folded it up and put it back in my pocket. Worked so good we used it for the whole trip!

But you're probably better off coming prepared and bringing a Ziploc bag.

I got a special water proof bag a CAA that I keep my small camera and anything I don't want to get wet. It's way thinker then a ziplock bag so I think would be more water proof. I would think you could find something like this at any store that sells travel stuff...If your an American try AAA as I expect they carry that type of stuff as well. As I reacall the bag I bought wasn't that expensive and I'll be using it in August for our phones and cameras.

But again I don't think you need anything that water proof. This is not a trip down the Amazon in a canoe where you need a dry bag. :goodvibes Also $80 for a phone case that adds a small amount of bulk is not trivial.

I guess I'm lucky, my Razor Maxx is already slightly water proof and protects it from say rain, but I'm not going to put it to the test so a 30 cent ziplock will do fine. :thumbsup2

I'm a believer in Ziploc. I keep extras in the bag so that we can just toss them if they get wet.

I concur with the rest.... I would use a ziploc bag. Get the freezer kind, too. They are more durable and can be crunched in your bag with everything else for an entire trip and not tear or get holes in it.

I should add, In my backpack I always pack zip lock bags. Quart and gallon. Once coming back from Disney on a band trip one of my kid's sunscreen exploded in his backpack with his new t shirt. It started to eat away at the ink on the Disney bag so I quarantined the mess into one of those zip lock bags. As Alton Brown would say, "Great multitaskers".

I had my iPhone in my pocket when we went to Sea World; it lives in a rubber-ish Speck case and the usual screen protector.

I got so wet, you'd have thought I had been gang-immersed by a roving band of militant Anabaptists.

The phone was fine.

I do not necessarily recommend this, but I'm thinking that Splash is going to do exactly nothing to your phone. Kali, I'd probably do the locker.

Actually, since I already have a dry bag for beachside and kayaking, I do bring it. It was only $12 as I remember. We thrown my wife's purse into it along with everything from my bag I don't want to get wet.

Even that storage space in front of you can fill water and the dry bag works perfectly.
