you'll get a tally of whatever type of meal you just used
so for example you eat at a TS place your receipt will tell you how many adult and how many child TS credits you have left but it won't list your CS or Snack credits. When you eat at a CS place it will give you how many CS credits you have left. Some snack places (mainly carts) may not list how many snacks you have left but most places do give you that info
Also last time we had a child on the dining plan (3 years ago) all of the CS credits were lumped together (not separated by age) - I don't know if that's changed or not.
Finally you can always ask at your resort and they'll print you off a list of how many credits (of each type - TS, CS, Snack) you have left
Bumping this up to ask if anybody has a system for keeping track of credits.
When I did this in 2005 we had 3 adults and one child.
Sometimes the CM would just take all three adult meals off one card! It was infuriating. The attitude was "well next time take all three meals off another card. It's easier for me."
But my thinking was we might split up at some point, and one poor adult would end up with no food on their card and have to pay OOP.
Anyway, my point is that is there an app or something to track credits? Especially snack credits? Or maybe a post-it note is the easiest. LOL.

I thought the credits are all lumped together and it does not matter which card is used to charge, the balance is reflected in all cards. Or am I wrong? Clarification will be appreciated.
As for QS, my understanding is that there is no split in adult or child. You are just expected to be honest and order the child meal for your child. The system cannot and will not monitor it.

They are all lumped together now. From the sounds of it, when it first started, they were not? Rest assured though, that at least for the past 3 years (I can vouch for those personally), the credits have been lumped together. (And likely for longer).

This is true as long as you are under the same reservation. If you have separate reservation numbers (are staying in different rooms) than your plans are not linked at all and you will need to produce one card from each reservation.
When my fiancé an I go with his family we always warn the server at the start of the meal and point out who is on what card. It IS hard on them if you don't warn them ahead of time, but it's just like doing separate checks of you tell them at the start of the meal.
Since my fiancé's brother stays in our room, we also keep track of the number of snack each of us uses so that we all get our allotted snacks (he would love to claim some of ours).
Love the dining plan! We started dining plan trips in 2009 and haven't looked back since!

I made a Mini-planner... I purchased one of those cheap $1.99 photobooks at Target, and I printed all of these in the photo lab there...
I had a check list for all of our credits - which I never used.
However, I budgeted our meals for each day and made a small note at the bottom corner of each planner page... These were very helpful, because I just glanced at the page each morning, so I knew how we were spending our credits that day. It worked out perfectly.
The size of the planner was perfect, because I just slipped it into one of the pockets of the bag, and it didn't add any weight or inconvenience. And because the photo album is all vinyl - it was mostly water proof.
So, if you are handy with Photoshop, or a like program (I've even had people who follow my PTRs do them in Word), it's very easy to do. If you watch for a print sale at Target or Walmart - like I did... The whole planner cost me less than $7.
I found an app for my phone a couple of months ago, but haven't downloaded it bc i haven't set up my phone to pay for apps yet. I think it was only $1.99? Anyway, it had a dining credit calculator that looked pretty easy to use. You would simply add how many of each you use at each meal and it keeps track of them.
