Keeping the same room question

I have a room only reservation for September 22, Its a room only because we will be arriving late that afternoon and wont be able to go to the parks. I also made a vacation package reservation at the same resort for September 23rd thru the 29th. They are both preferred room reservations, my question is will I be able to keep the same room or will I have to check out and move the next day?

We did this once when DH was sick and we added on another day.(Didn't want to have to drive back with him being sick) We stayed in a standard and only had preferred available. We booked the preferred and told them at the front desk we were willing to pay for the preferred, but didn't want to have to move. They actually reimbursed us the difference and let us stay. They just linked the 2 reservations together. I'm sure they can deny it, but I just prefaced it by stating they wouldn't have to do a complete room cleaning by staying in the same room. They were very accommodating.

They will try to keep you in the same room, but there is no guarantee. Call and have “ continuing stay” noted on your two reservations. I believe you will have to check out and check back in regardless

What kind of package did you book? Is it a package with dining or is it just a package with tickets? If it's just a package with tickets, I would simply try to extend your package stay to include that first night and simply keep the tickets you currently have on the package. Just because you aren't visiting a park on your first day doesn't mean you can't include that day in your package.

It was with Dining and tickets. I won’t need that on the first night.

We added on a night at CSR in November and had to switch rooms. We tried to stay in the same room, but they said they had a large block of rooms that were checking in the next day and it was impossible. The second room ended up being much closer to the bus stop so it actually worked out in our favor!

I've done the exact scenario you're talking about twice at CSR with different results. Three weeks ago when I checked in the cast member made a phone call and said that everything was good with staying in the same room except that I needed to come back to the FD the next morning after 6am to check out/check in to the package part of the stay. Three years ago at CSR they unknowingly upgraded my first night to a suite then wanted me to move for the next six nights. I told them that was a no-go and that led to multiple phone calls and 20+ minute wait for a room to be made available.
