Keeping self hydrated at Park.....

I don't want to pay $2 for a bottle of water at the park everytime I need something to drink. And most water bottles like Aquafina or Dasani only come in a 16.9 ounce bottle. And I heard / read that the water in Florida has a bit of a sulfur taste, so I am a little paranoid about drinking water from a water fountain @ the park. What can I do to keep myself hydrated at the park w/ water w/o having to buy water there all the time? I thought about a hydration pack, but my mom says I probably wouldn't use it outside of the trip. Whatever bag I get (Baggallini it looks like at the moment) has a pocket for a water bottle.

Are there any water bottles with a built in filter that hold quite a bit of water and still can be kept cold for a few hours? I'm flying down with my sister's family on May 10th.

that might work, but there's only room for one 16.9 oz bottle of water in the baggallini outside pocket. I might just call my sister and ask if she knows what we'll be doing regarding water.

Or maybe I'll get one of the bigger water bottle sizes and see how well an empty one would fit in the pocket.

I quit lugging around a huge water bottle with me when I learned that you can get a large cup of ice water at any counter service restaurant. (You don't even have to wait in line - just go up to the area where you pick up your food, and they can get one for you!).

I do carry a really small water bottle with me (a "kid's size" water bottle that you can get at grocery stores) and sometimes refill it with ice water from my cup - but love the freedom of not lugging a heavy bottle with me! Plus, the water is much colder than even drinking fountain water, which doesn't taste that great and is lukewarm!

I was just there, carried a SIGG aluminum bottle and drank tap water and fountain water almost exclusively with no issues. Living in the US we have the luxury of amazing water everywhere we go... may as well drink it!

I did bring those sugar free flavor packets (one I found had vitamin c added!) to kill off the chance of any off flavors, and I saved a ton of money. I would normally have bought at least $10 a day in just water, and not only did I NOT do that, but I drank less soda because I had my "tea".

If you get flavor packets, shoot for ones with no color... the color ones make a big, big, big mess.

I usually bring a water bottle with me and go up to a counter service restaurant and request a glass of ice water to refill it as needed. I agree that the water in the water fountains tastes awful and is generally not very cold which is very unsatisfying on a hot day.

I'm thinking I might purchase a Camelbak 1 Liter or .75 liter bottle, fill it with cold water the morning in the BC resort villa (hopefully it will not be yucky tasting) when we go to the park and then when I need to refill it, ask for a cup of ice water. And I know what you mean about the flavor paks. I use Crystal light sometimes and the green tea with rasperry (I think) is dark and very messy. I also may get a waist pack that has room for water bottle (in addition to the side pocket on the baggallini) and keep an extra bottle there.

Do they give you any problems at the parks about bringing a full bottle of water in with you?

I never tried and was thinking of ordering the water from costco this trip and might want to carry it with me.

It's never any problem... you could bring a small cooler of water if you were willing to carry it!

Is the ice water they give you in a cup.... just tap water?

I'm from canada and this is my first trip to WDW just wondering as people have commented on bad tasting tap water in florida...?

The water on WDW property doesn't have a sulfure tast or smell - that's outside in the Kissimmee area. In WDW the water has a somewhat metalic taste, as if you're drining it out of an aluminum can. It's much better than the water off-site, but I still don't like it and drink as little of it as I can.

However, I'm a terrible cheapskate and can't imagine buying bottle after bottle of water for $2 each, expesially not that Dasani sludge. Instead, I carry a 24-oz sports botte with a built-in filter. I fill it multiple times per day at any drinking fountain, bathroom sink, or restaurant, and the water comes out of it tasting like a good Deer Park or Crystal Geyser bottled water. Each replacable filter cartridge is good for about 50 gallons, which is way more than I drink even on a weeklong WDW trip.

The Brita bottle I use was discontinued some years ago (good thing I stocked up on filter cartridges!), but there are others on the market that go for about $10 each. The most common one I see is Pure Water 2Go; they have 2 or 3 different sizes of filtered bottles, and also have filter/sport top inserts that can fit in Dasani or Deer Park bottles.

I bought a Liv PUre water bottle with a filter at Target. I haven't used it yet but plan on bringing it with us to test it out. And it's good to know about the cup of ice water, I didn't know and this is our 3rd time going.

Yes, they filter the water as you drink. The filter is basically the same as a Brita or Pur filtered pitcher, or one of those home filters you put under the sink.

I haven't seen anything comparable in any retail store since Brita stopped making their Fill and Go bottles a few years ago. REI and similar places carry much more expensive filtered bottles, but those are for outdoors activities where you might have to filter harmful bacteria out of stream or spring water.

I always ask for the free ice water at the counter service and put it in my water bottle - it is out of the soda fountain, and doesn't have the same tap water taste as the fountains, plus it's ice cold, and they add ice for you - no bad taste at all. If you're worried about the taste (don't forget it's cold and free!), use the crystal lite singles to add flavour - keeps you hydrated and tastes good too!

Take some of the tea, koolaid, vitamin, propel, or whatever you like that you can add to the free water to disguise the taste. There are some add ins that do not have sugar. We like the Kelloggs Protein water packets.

Another vote for bringing a "flavor packet" for water. I'm not usually very picky about my water but really don't care for Disney tap water. We bring water bottles and then flavor them to drink through the day. We like the Propel flavors. The kids like the taste and they get those electrolites to keep them going on a hot afternoon.
