My DD thinks were staying at BC but I was able to book the Poly! I want her to be surprised but since we’re taking DME this probably wont be possible. Will she know when we scan in?

Yep. They’ll direct you verbally to the correct line. Which might have more than one name on it, but if it doesn’t have BC on the sign even if she didn’t hear the cm she’ll know something.

I say, make that moment the surprise moment.

Or don’t use dme. :)

I will say that when I went in August, I was staying at the Contemporary. Wilderness Lodge and Polynesian were also on my bus. It went Wilderness Lodge, BLT, Contemporary, Poly. If you luck out and get a bus with all of those (it was a slow afternoon so they combined more than normal, I think) it could be a nice tease.

"Not getting off YET." ;)

I was wondering the same sort of thing. I am telling my son we booked POP again, but are actually going to Beach Club instead. I'm terrible at keeping secrets so hopefully I can hold this one! Only 8 months to go :) Good luck with your surprise!

I thought of an idea. There is MNSSHP the night we arrive. Our plane lands 815 pm so I will suggest we take the Polynesian magical express amd watch Hallowishes from the beach. Then we,’ll take an uber to the BC. Sure we’ll be carting around our carry ons but hopefully she will be Disney dazed and wont think properly.

I managed this with my son last year. He thought we were staying in an offsite hotel which dme dropped off at. When we arrived at AOA we just said right this is us!
I’m sure there were only numbers on the boards not resort names.

You can't keep it a secret on DME. It's highly unlikely that the same bus would be going to both BC and Poly.

You might want to tell her that you switched resorts sooner than that in case she really wanted to go to the BC. :)

This. You don't want to start off vacation with a meltdown. Not everyone likes surprises.

Not everyone likes surprises.
This, a million times. I'm a teacher & once talked with a student who didn't know where she was headed for winter vacation because her parents always kept trip destinations a secret to surprise her. When I said that must be nice, she just looked at me humorlessly and said that she hated it.

It makes sense: who wants to feel that out of control of their time, that they don't even know where they're going? Unless a person says they like surprises, I don't recommend surprising them with a trip destination, even the resort they're staying at. People like making You Tube moments via surprising others, but it's usually more enjoyable for someone to be able to look forward to the type of trip they'll be taking than to be surprised by it.

I actually saw a scientific study that evaluated the reported pleasure people took from trips (surprise vs. non-surprise trips), and it reported the same result: looking forward to a trip enhances one's enjoyment of it.

And for people who love watching the videos, the meltdowns as a result seem to almost always be more popular and go more viral than the videos where things go "right" and the person appears happy.
