Keeping resort a secret at ME desk?

We're going to be staying at AKL and using ME...so far my son does not know that we're staying at AKL. I wanted to keep it a secret until we got to the room and figured that I could explain taking the ME to AKL and standing at the front desk as I was trying to confirm something about our ADR's at Boma that night. He'd want to go and watch the cartoons anyway, so he wouldn't hear the discussion about checking in.

Now I've got to thinking (which is a dangerous activity in and of itself :rotfl: ) that something might be said at the ME check in at the airport to spoil the surprise. When I hand the CM my paperwork, can I also have a note explaining the surprise so please don't say anything? My son can be sort of oblivious sometimes, so it might not be a problem, but I want to have all my bases covered just in case.

Thanks in advance!
Christine

When we went last March, I was the only one who checked in. They do have lines that you have to stand in that co-ordinate with your resort. I don't think that you can tell by the lines. However, I seem to remember the CM's going up and down the lines making sure that you were in the right line. Your son may not be able to tell, it was not that obvious. I believe it may be printed on the boarding pass itself so don't let him handle them. It will also be on the Mickey that is on your ME tags. Ours said Poly, I imagine your might say AKL. So avoid letting him see those too. Just have him wear headphones, he will never know. Good Luck.

Is anyone else going with you? We were a party of five (two different families) and were told only one person had to stand in line to check in. I waited with the children in the seating area. If someone is with you that could prevent any issues when checking in although I am not sure how you could prevent it when getting into the correct line for the correct bus?

ETA: Sorry PP, I was typing while you posted, didn't mean to repeat.

Thanks for the responses. It will just be my son and I, and he's only 10 so I can't have him stand elsewhere. I didn't realize there were separate lines for each resort...that actually might work out if I use my 'we have to go here first because of of the dinner reservations' excuse. Plus the headphones idea is a very good one.

Thanks again.

We used ME a few weeks ago, will you can use a note at the ME desk to not spoil the surprise, the CM at the front of the bus lines asked us which resort, the line than had a sign (usually 2-3 resort names), than they asked again as they lead us from the line to the bus, than the bus attendant confirmed and finally just before we pulled out the drive confirmed who is "going to x, who is going to y, anyone I didn't call"

I would consider telling DD you are doing Boma first thing before checking in and that is why you are on the AKL bus, otherwise IMHO you will be busted for sure

I'm sure the note will work fine at the desk. And as far as the lines, when we were there, ALK and Coronado Springs were in the same line, so could you tell him you're staying there? But regardless, nothing is very blatant, and unless he is really paying attention, he could easily miss it. What a fun surprise for him!

AKL bus also stoped at Pop Century first when we went a couple weeks ago. After that it was to stop at Coranado Springs.

The buses are marked though, aren't they? He would probably see what bus he was getting on.

Our bus wasn't. We just got in the line that said AKL, Coranado Springs/Pop Century. We were told to follow the guy with the Mickey hand and we got on the bus. Then when on the bus it was announced which order the bus would stop. There was not a sign on the bus.

I had told him we were staying at POFQ, but that was so long ago I doubt he remembers...but he definately doesn't know about AKL. I'm very certain he will like the surprise...the other day he asked if we were going to go back to eat at Boma and if so, can we stay for the night vision goggles outside? I really had to bite my tongue not to say something, I'm terrible at keeping secrets!
