this is for a child.

I'm looking for a way to keep greeting cards without just stuffing them into a cardboard box.

I don't have a lot of money to spend on it -- it needs to be budget -- someone suggested making a mobile but there would be more cards than that.

Thanks

I saw a great idea in one of my family magazines. You just punch a single hole in the top corner of the cards and slide the cards onto a single metal ring.

I'm planning on doing this with my kids' cards. I had been looking for a way to keep them (particularly the ones from their great grandparents and grandparents).

My kids are DD13 and DS10 and I have all their cards beginning with my baby showers.

I bought a scrap book that has paper pages. Then I use scrapbooking stickies to mount them in the book and then I write titles like, 1st birthday. This way you can still look at all of them and open them up to read.

I think a Scrapbook is an easy and organized way to keep all of your cards. You can buy a few sheets of paper or a whole pack and a scrapbook(most craft stores have weekly sales). No need for anything else!

What about a 3 ring binder with manilla pocket inserts?? That is what I use. No matter the size of the card it will fit in the pocket and the pocket is already punched to go in the 3 ring binder. Think it ran about $6

The three ring binder is a great idea. How about using a large manilla envelope and three hole punch it? You can write the year on the outside of the envelope and maybe put a "birthday photo" on the front, too. This way the cards won't fall out no matter what.

If you want to get more creative and spend a tiny bit more $$ you can expand even further on the 3 ring notebook idea. I'm not great at explaining things but I'll give it a shot...

You will need a three ring notebook and 1 clear 8 1/2 x 11 sheet protector plus 1 and 1/2 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock for each occasion or year. The sheet protectors can be purchased at Sam's, Costco, an Office Supply place or even Walmart.

Layer the two sheets of cardstock with the 1/2 sheet on top of the full sheet and line them up at the bottom edge (with both oriented "portrait" style)

Attach the two sheets together at the bottom and the sides leaving the top of the 1/2 sheet open to form a pocket. You can adhere the three sides with glue, double stick tape, scrapbooking adhesive or even colored staples. Label the pocket with the year and/or occasion. Decorate as desired with stickers, fancy papers, ribbons, or let your child do the decorating. Slip the finished pocket into the sheet protector and add your cards.

I also decorate the front of the 3 ring binder as I get the ones that have the clear cover that you can slide an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet inside.

Hope that my directions make sense.

Suz
