Does anyone have any tips for keeping ECV dry in the rain if you aren't IN the ECV?? Last trip I had parked the ECV to go into the Mexico pavilion and when I cam out it was DRENCHED. The sky (that had been amazingly blue when we went INTO Mexico) had taken a turn for the worse while we were inside having dinner, and the seat was soaked (not to mention the entire console so I was worried about electrocuting myself.....
How "rain-worthy" are they (are they zap-proof?) and what type of precautions do you take? We are headed down in a week and August can be rainy with the pop up storms here and there. I just checked the extended forcast, and of course there is rain noted almost daily (at this point...).

Mine came from the rental company with a little shower cap to put over the control box, and I put a rain poncho over the seat. That did the trick.

If you're going during a heavy rain season I guess you could take a dollar-store tarp or a shower curtain, but I found the poncho and shower cap were enough.

Are you talking about your own scooter or a rental? I own mine and purchased a low cost shower curtain with Mickey on it. I just cut it down to fit my scooter. It makes it easy to tell mine from others.

That doesn't keep it from getting wet. The only difference between the authorized companies and the others is that those few companies can leave the mobility device with Bell Services before the guest arrives, and pick it up at the same location after the guest leaves. Other very satisfactory companies simply have to deliver to the guest in person.

No kidding. The previous post asked if it was my own ECV or a rental. I answered. I know they BOTH can get wet. Rain get anything uncovered wet. I'm not an idiot. Thus the reason for posting the question to begin with...................

Some ECvs have pleather seats

Some have fabric cushion seats
You might want to rent one with a pleather seat to avoid a wet butt
We always use walker and they have the pleather seats
They also provide a shower cap to cover the consol if it rains.

I've always found that it either gets wet or drenched. We bring along one of those super-soaker shammies to mop up any water.

The reason I asked is because a shower curtain can be pricey and I didn't know if you would be willing to spend that much on a rental? For a rental, I would use a dollar store poncho. That is what I did before I purchased my own ECV.

. . . like above posters, throw an el cheapo poncho over it
. . . works like a champ for $2-$3

. . . of course, the wet butt isn't a problem
. . . just a little soggy
. . . however, you won't get a shock

. . . controls are waterproof
. . . no precautions needed
. . . unless you dunk the whole ECV in a lake

The way my week has been going this week I may just do that and toss
my entire family in WITH the ECV just for good measure. I'm having a BAD WEEK. I need this vacation SO BADLY it's not even funny. :scared:
