My dd22 has a condition (Neurocardiogenic Syncope) where one of the symptoms is the inability to regulate her body temperature – when she get’s too hot, she can’t cool down – even in the A/C. One of the things that happens with this is she passes out. We were out at a water park Monday and she was having a real problem – she kept commenting that the medicine wasn’t helping in the heat (it was over 90). She has been really sick since. We will be going to WDW in early November and I know it should be cooler then but there is a possibility of it being rather warm. Does anyone have any suggestions for her keeping cool – we will get a misting fan, try to stay out of the sun during the hotter parts of the afternoon, etc. but are there other products that might help? The last trip we took was December 2004 and she did pass out after leaving Disney Studios one night, and it wasn’t even that warm that day. Any suggestions?

What about one of those things from the Sharper Image that you wear around your neck-sorry don't know the name for it-it is supposed to keep you cool.
Bring frozen bottles of water so she has something very cold to drink all day-I bring a little soft cooler with them to keep my little ones cool-that and lots of popsicles :)

There are neckerchiefs that have some sort of beads sewn into them. You get them wet and freeze them. Then tie them around your neck and they help keep you cooler.

Wal Mart used to carry them, so you can look and see if they are available now.

One of the good points on your trip is that you aren't coming down until November and it will be cooler then. :thumbsup2
Sharper image may also have those neck wrap things.
A floppy brimmed hat and the misting fans will also come in handy!
Hope you have a great trip. :)

I live in Arizona and as I'm sure you know it can get a bit toasty here. Those neck things people mention are very popular here and work great for cooling down the body temp. Also, if you are just walking around and get over heated you can hold ice or a frozen water bottle in your hands and let it melt. Works wonder for a quick cool down. Take a frozen water bottle with you to the parks. Keeping hydrated is probably the most important. Drink tons of water and the sports drinks. Good luck.

When you get into the parks, get a GAC- Guest Access Card, I think. You just tell them Cast Member what you need, i.e. a place to get out of the heat instead of standing in a line outside in the heat, and they'll let her (and you) sit inside if it is an inside attraction, while the rest of your party comes throught the line. When they get to the front, you and DD join them, and go on the ride.

Check the DisAbilities board for further info, there's plenty on there.

I also use one of these as a headband under my floppy hat they really work .

You can get them in th sports section of Walmart.

They look like a thin (about 1 inch)bandana and when you wet them they Gel up cold to about 1 inch round.
