We have 3 boys ages 1, 5 ,and 7. I'm not worried at all about the 5 and 7 year old as we drove to New York last year and they didn't complain ONCE.

But we have no idea as how to entertain the 12 month old who doesn't understand phrases such as "wait" or "just a minute"

We are driving throught the night so that should help somewhat.

I find most kids are great in cars. They really can entertain themselves ~ or sleep. We drove to Montreal from Toronto last week and my kids sleep, read, look out the window, listen to music. Kids are great travellers. S

My children are both prone to car sickness.

We leave early in the morning (3:30-4:00) and so they sleep until we stop for breakfast. Then they both get Gravol.

This helps out the car sickness and the added benefit is it makes them sleepy. We travelled when they were little and we went through a lot of cheerios, fishy crackers, celery (with the strands peeled off). It takes them a long time to eat and it keeps them occupied.

It'll be fine. Just plan lots of stops for them to run off some steam.:smooth:

We leave at night around 7 PM after eating dinner. The kids are washed and in their pj's and ready for the drive. We like to drive through the night as they sleep and miss the most boring part being Mi and Ohio wwe stop in Georgia at the welcome centre for breakfast at around 8 AM. We bring our electric cooler and keep milk in it and juice for us to drink. We stop for lunch at the Macon bypass at the rest stop there it is very nice at this stop. We drive to Valdosta and stop for the evening usually arriving there around 3 PM. we arrive at Disney the next day around lunch time. We keep our kids busy with books toys games we like to talk to them during the drive also it helps to pass the time and they forget about how long they have been sitting. We like to talk to them aboutr Disney our kids are 7, 3 and 2 in Oct. We have 2 girls and a boy being the youngest. They have all travelled in the car with us from the time they were about 8 months old it really helped getting them used to long drives.

One thing I did a while back was record our own tape for the car(which obviously won't work if you only have a CD)We read our favorite stories, sang songs. rhymes etc...The kids were about 1 & 3 when I did this and it was one of their favorite things to listen to in the car for quite a while. It totally drove my husband insane(all the more fun!I'm so bad)but the kids loved it. I think you will be ok because you are going through the night for a portion of it.
