I have Teppan Edo on my ADR list for dinner right now but I'm starting to get nervous after all the online reviews that it isn't like it used to be and the food is poor quality. I loved the idea of going here (especially as a part of my family's first trip to WDW!) because we went to a teppanyaki place once a long time ago and it was a really cool experience. There just aren't any around where we live- but I've been burned before by cost-cutting type measures at restaurants and seen how they can change previously excellent restaurants into lousy and over-priced. Has anyone had any good experiences at TE recently or do I need to seriously reconsider this ADR?

Went in January ............

Our chef was EXCELLENT but as I looked around none of those in our room but her were so interactive so I was happy we got her. But I felt totally ripped off after I paid the bill. It was too much for what we got and I likely won't return. On top of that it was SO LOUD that it just wasn't enjoyable. Food tasted fine but nothing special.

I ate there last year and enjoyed it. We had a great chef...very fun.
She made a hidden mickey design on the grill it was really cool.
You get alot of food too. I left very full

If you have a good hibachi place near you, it's not worth the trip. If you don't, it can be a fun experience.

I'd rate it slightly above Benihanas, maybe on par with it depending on your chef.

Probably correct. The portion sizes at Benihana are perhaps a bit larger, and the quality about the same. I feel like the price is actually in line with what we'd pay at Benihana in the D.C. area. All that said, I think the quality/experience is better than just about anywhere else in Epcot.

The OP already stated that they don't have a Teppan ( hibachi) restaurant near them. Our last experience was good.

We ate there in November with our large family - we were split between 2 tables - ages from 1-62 - and we all really enjoyed it. We've been to this type of restaurant several times before so we knew what to expect --it was still fun and the kids got a kick out of watching our chef. The food was very good and while not inexpensive, was not too out of line with what we would pay in Atlanta. As you may know, you might be seated with other people at your table. After dinner, the gift shop is fun to explore and then you are in a great location for fireworks. Enjoy!

We have a reservation booked for the end of our trip. We love Teppan Edo. It's been awhile since we've been, though. But I generally don't complain about food, and tend to ignore complaints from people who do. Maybe they have a far more refined pallet than I do, I don't know. I have never had a bad Disney meal, despite what Pete and the folks on the podcast say.

DH-to-be and I have a reservation during our trip this Fall because we had a great time, and hope to repeat it. We went back in '13 and LOVED IT; we are big Japanophiles, not to mention we are very loyal to our Disney traditions. DH2B is a picky eater, much like a seven year old, but he found himself happily full on noodles, steak, and rice after picking through the mushrooms and zucchini squash. And my guy is a garbage truck. He can house food like no other.

That being said, we have done a lot of hibachi here in the Northeast. We're no stranger to the loud atmosphere of the clanging kitchen tools and chatter during the performance and being seated with people you don't know. It's part of the fun. Having an interactive, good-natured, talented chef is generally what you should expect because the preparation performance is just as integral to the experience as eating the food. Sure, Teppan Edo is WAY more expensive than what I'd pay for here, but there is a subdued, magical Disney touch I can't get in Japanese restaurants in New England. The server even had a lovely conversation with me because I brought my own chopsticks that I had bought downstairs at Mitsukoshi. Based on my experience, I recommended it to my friend who was going down for a visit in spring of last year, who also enjoys a lot of hibachi. He came back and told me how happy he was I told him about it, because he thought it was great.

So, to sum it all up, I'm hoping just as much as you that I can have another wonderful meal at Teppan Edo this fall. I take poor reviews with a grain of salt, because generally people will complain if something isn't to their liking rather than praise a place if it meets their expectations. The data is skewed.

I sure hope it hasn't changed! We ate here for the first time on our last trip (Sept. 2015) and it was our favorite! DD was too young for dining plan and when we mentioned how much she loved the zucchinis, the chef cut nearly a whole one up in small bites just for her! We are definitely more steak and potatoes than small veal on a plate with a spring of parsley folks. I really enjoyed the shrimp and the rest of my party had the steak. DD ate better here than any other restaurant on our trip!

The varying opinions on Disney restaurants are as varied as the people who visit Disney! It's funny to me when I read about how much people like, for example, Tusker House, while my family and I rate it at the bottom of our list because of all the "weird" food.

I actually thought that it has improved over past years. The last two times we have gone were terrific! Previous to that we gave it a break and stopped going because we did think the food and chefs that we had the last few times were lacking, and not worth it. I am glad we gave it another chance again. Now they offer a small salad and beef rice along with the entree. I ordered the Hotate (Scallops) the last time and it was so delicious! Now, we do get the DDP, so for us it is a great value, especially now that I feel it has improved. We are going back in a few weeks!

We used to love that restaurant! At our last trip last summer we went and it wasn't nearly as good. The cook at the table next to us was great and very interactive and funny! Our chef wasn't great...kind of boring. The food was just okay.
For us, we will skip it from now on. It used to be a must do. But now, its soo similar to the hibachi's that we have where we live that it just doesn't stand out.

A must do for us and we have a great teppanyaki restaurant where we live. The shrimp are fresh, which isn't the case where we live usually. The strip steak and filet mignon have always been very good as well. The vegetables seem to change from year to year, but they no doubt cost out the best value. The price is higher than other restaurants, but it is a 3rd party restaurant operating in the parks. The servers are informative and friendly and always are on top of tidying up the table or refreshing drinks. We have had good experience with the teppanyaki chefs, so are more interactive than others, but never had one be lame or not talk. I love it, the food is cooked right in front of you and is hot! Something my father demands lol

When my youngest DD(now 23) travels with us to Disneyworld Teppan Edo is a must do for her. We live in the Dallas area and we have many restaurants that are similar but she prefers Teppan Edo. The last time we went May,2016 it was the best meal of our trip. The food was good and the chef was outstanding.

Just know they don't have fried rice. No one ever seems to mention that, but I was pretty shocked when I went the first time because that's my favorite part of hibachi at home. Since you've only been once before probably not a big deciding factor and I did like the food. Just wish they had fried rice like everywhere else does. (even if it's technically Chinese not Japanese)

Went twice last trip Nov 2016 and it was our first ADR booked for our trip this year, we love it. We have DDP and always get the steak/shrimp combo and have never had a complaint. That yum yum sauce
