i keep burning my self on the hair straigtener any one else do this like every time the straigten there hair?

I use my DD's straightener and picked it up the wrong way a couple of weeks ago and burned my thumb. Man, that hurt. The skin is just now starting to peel.

haven't done that but I have reached into the oven to check on a roast and pulled the roasting pan out with my bare hands What an idiot
