I'm thinking about getting a pair of Keens for our Disney trip. What are your thoughts on park touring with Keens? Do they work well in rain? I'm leaning towards Newport or Venice.

Well, I think I have the newports and I took them to Disney.

I wear them around here in Indiana and do just fine. However, in the Florida heat combined with all the excessive walking at Disney, I was miserable. So glad that I also took my Nike's and socks.

I do love my keens. I just don't take them to Disney anymore.

I wore my Keen's daily in the park last month and loved them!!

Same here. I just bought Keens for the first time this year and they worked great for me at the parks. I think I have the Newport H2.

The only shoes I wear at Disney are Keens during the summer. They work great and keep your feet cooler than tennis shoes and socks. If you are worried about cold weather then I would go with tennis shoes and socks.

agree with OP good for home and but in Disney is usually so hot I need cotton socks and my Nike's... used to take crocks for the rain but they rubbed blisters as well down there. so good luck:cool1:

I  Keen footwear. I have several pair....Newport H2, Whisper, Bali and Mary Janes. They are very comfortable!:thumbsup2

I am wearing my Tevas, but both of my girls are wearing their Keen H2s. They love them, especially DD5, who wants to wear them every single day to school. They are so great to get wet, and dd always complains about her tennis shoes getting too hot on the playground at school but says her Keens don't.

I've not been to Disney yet, but I wore mine for 2 days in 105 degree st Louis weather and my feet great. I am of course bringing other shoes, but I'm not scared to give my Keens a shot.

I've taken my Keen Owyhee and Venice pairs twice to WDW and am very happy. The only problem was with Owyhee when my feet got wet on Kali - then one of the heels rubbed. but I love them and and will wear again!

I LOVE my Keens at DW. I used to wear Birkies when in the parks, but when it rains and they get wet, they're pretty much ruined. The Keens get wet, dry right out, and are very comfortable. I cannot wear tennis shoes in the heat of summer!

I bring my Venice H2's and my Teva Mush with me to WDW. I love my Keen's but I don't wear them if I'm going to get wet, because the upper part rubs my foot wrong if my feet get drenched on Splash Mountain, (We inevitably always end up in the first log in the first seat and water always sloshes over the top and soaks us from the waist down), or on the hot mess that is Kali River Rapids. I wear my Tevas on those days.

I pretty much only wear Keen St. Barts all year long! I wouldn't wear anything else to Disney. We went with some friends in 07 and they wore sandals of some sort (not Keens) and constantly had blisters and sore feet. We had to stop so many times to put band-aids on their blisters. We even bought one of them a new pair of flip flops in the Norway store at Epcot. Those gave her blisters too. We went with them again in 08 and I insisted they both get Keen shoes, and they marveled at how their feet NEVER hurt or had a single blister! They're both converts now :-) I find that Keen shoes don't even need breaking in. I can wear a brand new pair from day one and never get a blister. I like the Keens without the leather insole though - the leather insole is hard on my feet in hot weather - sticky and so forth. I like the plain "rubber" (it's not rubber, but whatever the material is) insole of the St. Barts model the best. Doesn't get too hot, feet don't stick, never, ever a blister. I think I have 10 pair of St. Barts now :D

I think it depends on the person.

I bought a pair of Keens to take to WDW when we visit the water parks.

I brew beer which has me on my feet for five hours on brew day and about three hours on bottling day. There is quite a bit of washing when making beer and I do some chores in the shower which makes the Keens a good choice. :)

Standing in the Keens for three or five hours is no problem from a support view point.

What I do not like is that Keens are hot. I forgot the model I have but after an hour or so they are hot. I knew this before I bought them because of the reviews on the REI web site.

I can and do wear boots in the summer with one thin sock and one thick wool sock on each foot. My feet are not hot and sweaty in the work boots even when running a chainsaw.

My feet are hotter with Keens standing in the kitchen in the AC compared to cutting up trees.

I will be wearing the Keens at the pool and water parks but never in the park parks. Running shoes and good socks are far more comfortable for me.

Later,
Dan

My DH and I had Keen Owyhee for our recent trip and we LOVED THEM! I am sure you'll be happy with any model. I  my Keen sandals.

I've worn a pair of Keen Waimea H2 my last couple of trips to WDW and I can't imagine wearing anything else. Onlineshoes.com has them on sale for 35.99 which is a great buy. They are also great in water. I'm just not sure if they will work in December! Will my feet get cold? Am I going to need socks? They are going with me just in case.
