Thursday 31st October 2002 - Day Eight

We were up early this morning to go to the DVC member update. It was very informative they tell you all about DVC and the exchanges you can do. We were given a 10th anniversary DVC pin and there was coffee and pastries for everyone. They also have a raffle, which I won! I got a DVC bum bag, which also holds a water bottle. When we left a man offered me $40.00 for it – I laughed and he said I am totally serious. There was no way I was selling it.

Today was our trip to Universal and the Halloween Horror Night. We waited outside the Boardwalk and got the Mears Shuttle. We did some new things at Universal Studios for us, like the Horror Make up show – which was very funny. We also watched the Animal Planet show too, I loved the clips of Steve Irwin he is so funny! In the afternoon they had some street dancers, which were very good and drew a crowd.

For dinner we went to the Bob Marley restaurant, the food was very different and good DH had Jerk Chicken and I had Vegetable Pat – Natty Dread. I had a very strong cocktail, Ku’ya Punch to prepare myself for the evening ahead.

We then strolled over to Islands of Adventure for the Halloween Horror Night. The last time we went I attracted all of the scare actor’s – possibly because of my screaming! This year the plan was to be brave and smile a lot he, he.

I did well to begin with, but soon they realised that they could scare me if I had one on each side! We did Bill and Ted’s show, which was so good, it was a take off of all the celebrity’s in the media this year such as Scooby Doo, Austin Powers, The Osbournes and Anna-Nicole Smith. A brilliant show with nothing scary in sight!!

We did a few rides here, but none of the Haunted Houses. But the atmosphere was really good even with the half mutant dinosaurs!

We went back to city walk for a drink or two and then got the shuttle back to the Boardwalk. They had there own celebration’s here with characters, face painting etc. In the lobby they had carved pumpkin’s by the hotel staff, some had Pooh, Stitch and Cinderella’s coach carved in to them.

Friday 1st November 2002 – Day Nine

We woke up late today after the Horror night. Today was going to be leisurely as it was our 2nd Wedding Anniversary. We exchanged cards- we already had our prezzies.

We decided to walk around the lake and take a look at the Beach Club Villa’s – always good to look, you never know when you might need an add on for DVC. It was a lovely 1-bed unit, we had a chat with the guide for a while and when we left she gave us a nice Beach Club Villa pin. We then walked through to the Yacht Club Galley where my friend works and popped to say hi!

Next we strolled over to Fantasia Mini Golf – a bargain 50% off with annual passes. We did both courses, unfortunately DH takes the golf thing far too seriously – he didn’t like me moving my ball to a better position for some reason. I did some pin trading with the guys at mini golf too.

We were heading to the Polynesian resort today, this is where we got married and I wanted to go back to visit. So we got the bus from the Swan to the Magic Kingdom and then the Monorail to the Poly, I enjoy travelling on Disney transport – it’s a ride in itself. We went out to Sunset Point and spent a little while here, it brought back a few memories. We took a few pictures here – I do think this is a lovely resort. We stopped by the pool bar and I got a Pina Colada – DH couldn’t have a drink as he had left his ID in the room whoops.

We sat on the dock for a little while and then got the lovely little boat back to the Magic Kingdom followed by a bus to the Boardwalk.

After a rest and a change we headed back to the Grand Floridian for our dinner reservation at Citrico’s. We were seated at a lovely window table and were given personalised menus with Happy Anniversary on them. I had a citrus – infused Martini and DH had a Citropolitan martini while we were looking at our menus. I had Warm Onion Tart and DH had sauteed shrimp to start followed by a polenta dish for me and Paprika and Honey-marinated Pork Tenderloin and finally for dessert I had Chocolate and Banana Torte and DH had a Cheesecake. They had decorated our dessert plates with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate – a lovely touch. Also during dessert we could see the fireworks going off in the Magic Kingdom that night for MNSSHP. After dinner we wondered around the Grand Floridian looking in the shops and then back to the Boardwalk.
