Kaylee & Alan’s Trip Report Day 9 – Island’s of Adventure and dinner at Artist Pointe, Wilderness Lodge

Day 9

Cast
Kaylee – aged 26, first time visitor to WDW
Alan – aged 28, second visit to WDW, first when he was 8

We were up early this morning to get our Mead’s shuttle to Island’s of Adventure, arriving a little after 9am. When we entered we got our Universal Express ticket, this is for going straight to the front of the queue on rides until 11am. We headed straight for The Incredible Hulk Coaster, which we both enjoyed followed by The Amazing Adventures of Superman and Doctor Doom’s Fearfall. Now this ride I wasn’t really looking forward to and it did scare me. When we came back down, everyone got off and I couldn’t undo my seatbelt, so I was shouting to Alan that I didn’t want to ride again LOL. We headed over to Duelling Dragon’s, now I know one is supposed to be better than the other but we rode both fire and ice and I can’t remember which was better.

We got lunch at Pizza Predattoria, just the usual fast food stuff which was OK. I think we then did Jurassic Park River Adventure – is that the one you get wet on? All Dinosaur things look the same to me. Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Fall’s were next – this was a great ride. Followed by The Eight Voyage of Sinbad and Poseidon’s Fury, again if it hasn’t got Mickey or Pooh in it – it is lost on me. We walked through Seuss Landing, what can I say but a very colourful place! Our last ride was back on Hulk, Alan enjoyed it so much he got the T-shirt. We ordered our shuttle back for 2.30pm that we caught and headed back to the resort.

We didn’t go to the Pool today but had a little nap – me unfortunately with my contact lenses in, ouch! We heard the news about the accident today on Splash Mountain, which was a bit shocking. Di and Mike (my beanie pals) picked us up at 7.30pm to head over to Wilderness Lodge.

I was really looking forward to visiting this resort, but all I can say is it is freezing! Even with my fleece on I was cold – it must be something to do with those high ceilings and the rustic mountain lodge feel. Dinner this evening was at Artist Pointe, It had lovely big windows but as it was pitch black I couldn’t see a thing. We started with a basket of breads and spreads, the spreads were roasted garlic, onion butter and peach preserve, this was yummy. Di had Leek soup with roasted leek on the top to start. For our main course I had Penne Pasta with Autumn Veggies, Alan had Buffalo Ribeye (again), Mike had the Halibut and Di had Salmon. Everybody enjoyed there dinner and we followed it up with Artist Pointe Cappuccino Dessert (yum, I recommend this), Alan had Chocolate Cheesecake and Mike and Di shared Apple Cobbler. We really enjoyed dinner – and it was about $110 for the four of us, as it was our honeymoon the desserts for Alan and myself were provided free as a gift from Artist Pointe.

We looked around the shop’s and Alan got a Wilderness Lodge wooden pen. I thought this would have been one of the places I would have liked to have stayed on Disney Property, but after spending some time there, I am not convinced. On the drive back to our resort Mike showed us where the fireworks are let off for MK and where they put the monorails and MK train to bed. When we got to CBR we got a Hot Chocolate and then it was time for bed.

Next :- Seaworld and The DIS Meet.
