Friday December 14, 2001
Up at about 6:30 too excited to sleep (but boy are those beds and pillows comfortable!) Went and got coffees and muffins and we met up at 8:15. Found it easiest if Jamie, Lisa and family met us at hotel. Drive over to Universal and we are in the park by 9;00 but nothing really opens until 10!
There was absolutely no one in the parking lot when we got there. Off to do ET, Back to the Future, Men in Black (twice) Jaws, Earthquake, King Kong and Twister. Me and mom did a taste test for donuts (star flakes?) and got $10 each! Jaime, Lisa and kids stayed and this park and Danny and I, mom and dad and dadmc went off to Islands of Adventure. Dragged Danny onto Cat in the Hat cute, then Poseidon (not really sure why they changed this) Jurassic Park, Spiderman, Doctor Doom and Hulk (mom and dad didnt do either of these this year). Then we went off to the water rides.
You will get wet no wait you will get SOAKED! We went on Popeys raft ride and go so soaked so we stayed on again (mom and dad wore ponchos and dadmc chickened out) Danny and I were soaked to the bone! Then we went to Dudley Doorights log ride. Soaked again and a lot of laughs and a lot of fun. Just about time to go so we tried looking for some dry clothes but couldnt really find anything. Dannys park pass got soaked and ruined so we had to get him another one I guess it happens frequently!
Met up with the rest of the clan and drive back home. Quick showers and we are off with just mom and dad for dinner at Bomas. We originally had 7:30 reservarions, then I changed them this am to 8:00 and then called when we got back and moved them to 8:30. We drove over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for our dinner the lobby is spectacular!
Off to dinner which was wonderful. Great table over by the windows and our server Terry was terrific. Off to the buffet. Great soups, salads and just lots of good food. Flank steak, prime rib, mahi mahi and chicken. We all had a couple of nice drinks and then lots of dessert from the dessert bar. Wow! Too stuffed but it was all really great. Then Terry brought me over a little decorated cake with mickey mouse confetti sprinkles and the plate had Happy Birthday Kathy written in chocolate and gummi bears. It was sooooo cool! Mom and Dad gave me a beautiful card.
After dinner we walked around the grounds to see the savannah. Saw a couple of animals, it was pretty neat. Went over to the gift shop and I got a safari eyore (he was just so cute) and a t-shirt (is that you tigger?) Back to the hotel around 11:00 and to bed around 11:30. What an absolutely wonderful day!
