~ Kate Plus Eight ~

You really think TLC can control all those paps that take tons of pictures of of the G's, hoping one will sell? TLC would have to control a lot of rag mags, if that were true. Most of those guys are freelancers, and I doubt TLC can afford to pay them all off.

the bulk of paparazzi pics come from INF daily, sold to other sources.

I'm just saying that there has been a persistent rumor, for a while now .. that TLC has some control over what pictures are out there.

there is also a persistent rumor that Kate goes to Target to shop for the photo op. it's based largely on what she's buying ... probably perpetuated by people who have way too much time on their hands to analyze such things.

I don't necessarily believe the rumors, but do think it's interesting that the paps are at the end of the driveway a lot and could follow Kate's every move. And yet, the only pictures that surface are the same ones over and over. Does that mean TLC has a hand in it? No.

Last week, reported from someone that lives in the area, there were over a dozen paps at the front of the house. But they can snap all day, if Kate doesn't do something interesting, there is no one that wants the pics. So what other pictures would they show? As for Target..maybe it's the closest inexpensive store to Kate. I would assume, they follow her from her house, and if that's the only place she goes, that's where the pictures will be taken.

An independent paps dream, I would think, would be to catch K or J doing something that will get his pictures bought, and then resold to the rags. I don't see how TLC could stop those photo's. Actually, we are back to, any type of publicity is usually wanted, bad or good, so I would think TLC wouldn't want to stop anything.

Paper plates LOL?

Now, if she were buying pregnancy test kits, I could see a lot of interest. :rotfl::rotfl2:

I guess that means she isn't doing much of anything that will be bought by the rags. Wonder if she's just too boring. I especially liked the one that was posted last year, with her and Steve in the airport, insinutating that there was something going on between them, that is was just the two of them. Then someone in the airport, on one of the nicer boards, posted her photo that she had taken with her cellphone, and there was a second bodyguard (the African American guy that we often see) with them holding onto a pice of luggage. He was cropped out of all the paps pics. It's all just a game they play.

Funny that Kate never mentioned the African American guy when she was talking about security. I only heard her talk about how the kids trusted Steve. Maybe he's not really security but is one of the nannies!

I just happened to rewatch (now that I'm more awake, the regular show put me to sleep) the show about her, and she mentioned they had other security. I can't imagine Steve can handle it all.

I think the show about her was very well done, and I caught stuff I missed the first time around. I found it very interesting to hear what those from Inside Addition, People and the other TV show (name slips me right now) had to say about her. I think they genuinely like her.

:lmao:

I just tried to find the story I read about all that, but I can't. It was days ago, and I really care only enough about what's going to to participate in the discussion here from time to time. :upsidedow

i wastched the new show on sunday i thought it was very well done, those kids are soo grown up now and that cake! o my! what a awesome looling "6" cake.

Think anyone who is not paid to say so, likes her? :confused3 we never hear from them. ever.

Exactly!!! I would love to hear from someone who was on the payroll at one time and is now off what their opinion of her is. As for security it amazes me that some actual Hollywood stars don't have the security team that a Pennsylvania housewife who is a mother of 8 has that everyone loves (just ask the gossip shows) and don't seem to have problems with bad fans or death threats??:sad2:

I like her. I'm not paid. So you are saying that the people from People mag, Inside Edition, and the other from the morning show, that were on the show are all paid to act like they like her?

Well, they also aren't saying a lot of bad things. Oh, that's right, people think K & J were dumb enough to sign a bad contract about money, but smart enough to have their help in the begining, sign a form saying they wouldn't talk bad about her.

And why do you think some Hollywood stars don't have security? Who are those people around them, if it isn't security? And you don't think none of them have had problems with bad fans or death threats? I realize John Lennon isn't a Hollywood star, but I'm pretty sure he had both bad fans and death threat. David Letterman has had threats and break ins as did Johnny Carson. So have others, including Tom Cruise. Madonna has had a couple of incidents at her home, and she has security. It's in the news off and on. That said, there is something rabid about some of the people who hate Kate. But it doesn't matter.. if she has and it makes her comfortable, and I'm not paying for it, I don't care if she has security.
There are lots of these stories on the internet:

After watching that 2nd show, it is no wonder she has security.

She's a phenomena, it seems.

Yes and no. Their jobs are linked to her....interviews, selling magazines etc.

These are people she is in business with. They would have to say they like her. Where are the people who do not profit from Kate and the kids? What do they have to say? Are there any? I don't know, we never hear anything positive from even one. (and I mean real life people in their lives, not fans or you who like her)

...you don't know her. You like what we are allowed to see. No one has spoken positively of Kate that knows her, and isn't paid by her/her people. It's so weird.

I don't know. All we've been told is K & J want to allow them to keep their privacy. But with the exception of her brother and his wife, they have also not talked bad about her, and that includes the mom's she knows from school, people from church. There are a lot out there that could have spoken and they haven't.

and that sentiment goes both ways.

that's one of the things that truly fascinates me about this whole thing. the lack of comment (for and against) about the Gosselins.

I don't know why someone doesn't write a book on the G's. They could be millionaires overnight. I would love to hear from a nanny, camera crew, producer, drivers, family ,(are any family members allowed over?) neighbors and helpers from the past and most importantly how the kids really feel?
Could you imagine the scene if the kids weren't told be excited about the return of the film crew? This was probably the only outside people allowed in the house other than the paid staff. I also heard Jamie has 2 kids. So what is the story with her--kids don't want to be on camera so there mother desserts them or Kate doesn't want them on camera. I remember an old episode where Jamie's son was playing with the tups and their was a lot of fighting--not good for the camera.:happytv:

That's right. I like other celebrities (and dislike some as well) that I only like because of what I'm allowed to see.

That's exactly what I was responding to, when someone else said that people weren't saying good things. That they weren't saying bad either. So yes, it does go both ways. It seems to me that those that don't really know her (all of the fans and those that don't like her) are the only ones talking about her. The only comment from her church, is that they refuse to comment.

There are lots of people that could comment, that haven't signed anything (and maybe no one has, that's just guessing), such as I said earlier, the school parents, and they still haven't. So maybe they feel they have nothing to comment on, even knowing Kate and Jon.

The two shows were re-run last night and I reluctantly DVR'd them. Here are my impressions (warning, I am not a fan of Kate)

I can't get over some of the sounds that come out of her mouth, she's like a teenage girl screeching on a playground in so many different areas, DWTS rehearsals, Discovery Cove etc. I am surprised at her age that she doesn't have more self control.

As for the media personalities that contributed to the special on Kate, well they seem to be sympathetic to her and did a good job exposing some of the extreme feelings towards Kate. They are clearly pro-Kate and it is not surprising they were asked to speak in this TLC special.

Steve says he protected princes and royalty etc and none of them have the media recognition that Kate does, well that to me is the arena of realty TV and the fact that in the US this is how "celebrities" are treated. He also comes across as her personal cheerleader, confidant, publicist and the one who keeps her focused on the task at hand. I hope he gets paid a boat load of money for all that he does.

Her best friend Jamie seems to have gotten the script down pat that Kate does all this by herself. Good for her, glad she can stay so committed to the image that Kate likes to portray.

The Discovery Cove show was more of the same as J&K plus 8 just without Jon. It was sad to see how much she badgers the boys to be men, how Mady is so frustrated with all the attention to the "little kids." And Kate needs to get it in her head that they are not "little kids" anymore.

It was nice to see that the kids liked seeing the production crew back, to me they appear to be truly in love with them and vice versa.

In my opinion, TLC did not do her any favors with the new show. She appears to be the same over-reacting, pity me person that was on before but without Jon to boss around. Although she did get a few digs in at Jon with the sleeping bags and the less than stellar birthday party he had for them, plus the gum oh my!!

It will be interesting to see how the show will be without an all expenses paid trip to entertain them.

ITA! I think the Discovery Cove portion was nothing but a big commercial about the place. Of course, how many families with 8 kids can afford $300 per kid to swim with the dolphins and stingrays?? Kate's reaction to the alligator was ridiculous. The only thing that would of made that scene was if she fell off the boat into the water. I liked her comment that they chose these boats because they offered them a papparazzi free environment. Steve is nothing more than her personal assistant and secretary--that's right secretary not security! The scene of her in the limo crying about going to the DWTS rehearsal was so strange. I have seen several clips of parties that were held with the DWTS cast and not once did I witness Kate at any of them. The paps loved those dancers and the dancers were very cordial back to them. Not Ms. Stone face Gosselin--her pouty face was so evident. I also thought the scene when the crew came back was so staged. The look on Mady & Cara's face was priceless. I noticed they didn't go in the basement to show how everything was "back to normal".
Jamie won't last long. They sure have her trained with just the right thing to say about Kate and how wonderful she is. This show is just a repeat of the ending of J & K only minis J. :sad1:
