Karibu Dinner and Safari ride mix-in

I know this event was discontinued around 2010, but I thought I read somewhere that something similar was going to take its place. Does anyone know? It was an event for 20 or more, advertised as a rehearsal or welcome dinner. It was $67 a person and included the safari ride and dinner. I would LOVE to do something like this for my rehearsal dinner...

I really wanted to do this for my rehearsal dinner after seeing it on another brides planning journal so was pretty gutted when it finished. The only equivalent is the night safari at Animal Kingdom Lodge but you have to be staying there and dinner is not included.

I guess the Karibu Dinner & Safari was too good of a deal to last - it really was affordable for a ride and meal. I guess I will keep looking. Maybe I will look into the Wanyama Safari: http://allears.net/acc/faq_aklsunset.htm

Its a lot more expensive though - luckily this will be a smaller group than the actual wedding, which will be 100 people.

You can still plan a private dinner and safari ride mix-in at Animal Kingdom. It just might cost more, depending on the food and beverage minimums for the location you want. Give Disney Catered Events a call or ask your DFTW planner about adding it.

Good point, I will probably do this. I really wanted to share this experience with my family! I'm a first-gen American and none of them have ever been to Disney, so I kinda want to make it as magical as possible.

I'll let you guys know what I'm quoted when I get around to that.

I will add that I checked into this idea for our welcome party...I was hoping to do a catered dinner at Tamu Tamu courtyard with a safari mix in and it was definitely do-able...just way outside my particular budget for that event. I was bummed but Disney was really helpful and open to my ideas for the event.

I think it would be a pretty spectacular rehearsal dinner if you can make it happen!

You know what else might be cool?? Cater a farewell breakfast in Animal Kingdom and do a first- run Safari. Breakfast, by and large, is MUCH cheaper. I had a catered breakfast and first-run Everest for my students and it was VERY reasonable, DELICIOUS, and getting on Everest first was awesome! It'd be great with the safari, too.
