Day 3—Saturday, May 1, 2004

I woke up early and had a quick breakfast of beingets at the POFQ before heading over to MGM for early entry. I was in the park before 8:00 am, and as soon as they let us by, I walked immediately to the Tower of Terror, and the Rock ‘N Roller Coaster and rode each of them twice. I then went on the Great Movie Ride.

I then walked to the Boardwalk and took a bus to Downtown Disney to do a bit of shopping. I bought myself a really nice scrapbook, and some new stickers and paper edgers. I also picked up a few other souvenirs for my friends and family. I only spent about $65 dollars there, so I did pretty well.

I then walked to the buses to head to catch a bus to the Contemporary, as I had lunch reservations. The Contemporary bus had just pulled away, so I jumped on the bus to the Grand Floridian and took the monorail from there.

I used a voucher for lunch at the Concourse Steakhouse. I started off with a mixed greens salad. It was OK, but there wasn’t very much dressing on it, so I had to ask for more. I got a filet mignon for my entree, and it was delicious. The meat was very tender, and the mashed potatoes were amazing. For dessert, I got crème brulee. It wasn’t the best crème brulee—the carmalized sugar on the top was like a sheet of hard candy, not very good. But the crème part was delicious. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at the Concourse Steakhouse, although it wasn’t the best one meal I had.

I then headed over to Epcot to meet up with Bavaria again. We had made plans the previous night to meet at the American Adventure to catch American Vybe that afternoon. Unfortunately, the American Vybe performances were cancelled that day. We decided to take a walk around the world. I wanted to take a picture of me in each country for my scrapbook. I plan on making a “Walk Around the World in a Day” section in my scrapbook. During our walk around the world, we road the boat rides in Norway and Mexico. We also caught the chair performers in France, who were fantastic.

After our walk around the world, Bavaria and I said goodbye. I headed over to the Magic Kingdom. I road on Splash Mountain and the Jungle Cruise. I then walked to the Contemporary, where I would be meeting AngieBelle and her boyfriend Chris. I was very excited to meet AngieBelle, since we have talked a lot in the chat room in the past year. Angie’s friend Jillian joined us as well.

Angie, Chris, Jillian, and I wound up heading over to Kimonos to meet the One_Cats. It was too early to go into Kimonos, so we wound up going to Tubbi’s to grab a bit to eat. Angie and Jillian shared a pizza, Chris got a sandwich, and I got a cheeseburger. My cheeseburger was OK, but nothing to write home about. I enjoyed passing out wetnaps and condiments to everyone in our group. The wetnaps and condiments are very plentiful at Tubbi’s.

After dinner, we headed outside to head to Kimonos. I don’t remember how this started, but I was making a comment (something along the lines of how special I am), and I threw my arms triumphantly in the air at the right moment to make the fireworks over at Epcot go off. It was really bizarre. I don’t know if I’m explaining it well enough to describe the experience, but it was pretty darn neat.

We went to Kimonos and grabbed a table. The One_Cats got up and performed “Summer Nights” together, and Mr. One_Cat also sang something else, but I can’t remember what. Angie sang a couple of Broadway showtunes, and completely wowed the audience. I swear I saw one woman with tears in her eyes. I did not make an appearance onstage that night, even though One_Cat repeatedly begged me to sing. I just don’t sing in front of people like that.

At one point during the night, someone started to sing “Copacabana.” That song just screams conga line, so I started one. I had a four person conga line in the restaurant. Everyone else just sat there, but me and three strangers conga lined our hearts out. We had more fun than anyone else!

One thing I learned about going to Kimonos is that I have to untrain myself from responding to songs the way they do over at Jellyrolls. I hear certain lines in songs, and I react to them. That’s fine over at Jellyrolls, but at Kimonos, no one else does it, so it just doesn’t work.

Overall I enjoyed Kimonos, but it’s no Jellyrolls. Good thing my beloved Scotty and Ray weren’t performing at Jellyrolls that night, or I would have ditched everyone at Kimonos ;) Actually, Ray was performing that night, but not with Scotty, so that’s why this was my non-Jellyrolls night.

I left Kimonos shortly after 11:00, and went to grab a cab to the POFQ. The swan uses towncars instead of cabs, so I got a towncar back to the resort, and I’m still not sure how I actually made it back. The driver didn’t know how to get to the POFQ (didn’t even know what it was). He got directions from the dispatcher, and didn’t follow them right. He made an illegal u-turn, and tried to take me to the CBR. Then he almost got us in an accident because he was riding in between lanes. Then finally told him to listen to me for directions to the POFQ. We finally made it there in one piece. The driver ticked me off because he told me he charged the same as a taxi (which should have been around $8 including tip), but he charged me $10. So, after the horrible service I received, I just handed him $10 without a tip. He didn’t even deserve the ten.

It was nice to be back at the hotel and in bed before midnight. It was the only night of my trip I made it back that early.

Thanks for these solo reports. I'm really enjoying them. I've never been to Jellyrolls, but it sounds like such a cool place. I plan to stay at the Yacht Club on my next solo trip (2005 or 2006), so I'll make it a point to go there (maybe more than once!;) ).

It's neat that you were able to start the fieworks off at Epcot for them with a wave of your arms! Too cool!

As selfish as this sounds, I enjoy my solo trips to WDW more than those trips with others because I get to do what I want whenever I want and be happiest in the happiest place in the world!

Again, thanks!

Well, Califlady, if you ever have questions about Jellyrolls, I'm the person to ask. I live 1100 miles away, but I've become such a regular that they know me there. Scary, eh?

I love solo trips too. It's fun to be able to do what you want when you want. I changed directions so many time, doing something totally different than originally planned. I also had a blast talking to strangers on the bus and in line--it's easier to talk to people when you don't have someone else with you.

I am going with you! Sounds like we could have lots of fun and get in lots of trouble....     ::yes::

If you go with me, it wouldn't be a solo trip anymore ;)

I don't think anyone could keep up with me on a solo trip. I never slept later than seven, and was up after midnight four of the five nights during my trip!

Can you do Disney on 2-5 hours of sleep per night? With no naps? And only an occasional break? And still be ready to stay at Jellyrolls singing, and tipping big?

Hey, I'm no fool! I've read your reports and KNOW I couldn't keep up with you. There's not enough drugs to help me keep to your schedule! But it's great that you can do it.

On my last solo trip, I went for 8 days/7 nights with one day at Sea World. The rest of the days were go-go-go at WDW. I was delerious the last 2 days and could hardly function. Got a head cold at the end, too. Nope, I need my rest.

That's why my next trip will be no shorter than 14 days. Probably 16-18 days. Then I'll be able to take it slow, go to Jellyrolls until 1 AM, then sleep in the next day with no guilt!

Wow it sounds like you were having a great time, every disney minute. I like your scrapbook idea. That is so cool. O.K. I admit it, I bought a scrapbook once and it is sitting empty. We stayed at the swan and peeked into Kimmonos. It was hopping over easter break. I have 3 ds and the oldest was 16 so it wasnt appropriate for them but we looked in the window on our walks outside the courtyards. I made a joke that I saw and heard william hungs new girlfriend one night. DS 16 was cracking up at me. One girl we heard was really fantastic. You seem to be the life of the party, hmm conga lines, fireworks starter, magic follows you wherever you are. Glad you had a great time.

Luvmarypoppins--I have a very simple goal in life--to have more fun than anyone else, and I'm usually very successful at that :)

Mr. One_Cat was really trying to get me onstage to sing at Kimonos, but I just won't sing by myself. Throw me in Jellyrolls, I'll sing all night. Put me on a ride, and I'll sing along (heck, I even sing "It's A Small World" every time on on Space Mountain), but don't put me on a stage and expect me to sing. I told Mr. One_Cat that I will visually embarrass myself, but I will not vocally embarrass myself :)
