karaoke machine?

Can anybody recommend a decent karaoke machine for a twelve year old to use? He has an iPad. I'm going nuts looking at websites and reviews! I'd love to stay under $100. Thank you!

I can't post links, but my kids have the Memorex MKS-SS2 that's $71 on Amazon. They plug in their own MP3 player and sing all day, every day!

We have this one as well. If they just want to sing, it is perfect. You plug in your MP3 and sing along. There is a ton of karaoke on youtube. This has a button where you can play your own songs and it will take the lead vocal off. It's not perfect, and works better on some songs than others, but overall it's pretty impressive.

If they want to make recordings or videos with it, or are real audiophiles then this is not for them. It is a fun toy and works well for what it is.

$58 today.. great price!

I wished I grabbed the Jukebox I saw at CVS some time back. They are out at the ones I stopped at but full price was $99 and it looked so retro and did the kareoke from what I recall.

I am looking for a machine for my mum, but the one linked above is the best of the bunch in that price range. Although I did read a ton of reviews that make my head spin. It seems they work great or arrive broken (or shortly thereafter) for others. I think it would be a great starting point and if it doesn't work out you have 90 days. For perspective I read something similar about a $400 machine. So I think it may be easier to stomach if it's less than $100.

Sorry to be so clueless- but do the words appear anywhere? Or do they need to be printed? Our playroom does not have a tv and I'd like to keep the music in there

With this machine you use your iPad. Go to YouTube and search "Frozen karaoke" for example. You will find lots of the songs with the words there, in a traditional karaoke format. (And thousands of other songs.) If you use your own CD then you would need to print out the words, or go to a lyrics website and read them while you sing. They wouldn't scroll like a traditional machine. The benefit to this is that you don't need to buy the special CDs. No tv required. There are also various karaoke apps you an try.
