Ok - sort of budget related. My son's favorite soccer team is coming from England to play at the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium. We're looking at tickets, but leaning towards the cheapest option since there will be four of us going. So my question is, anyone out there been to a game at this stadium? If we get the cheapest seats, will we be able to see?

If we go up one or two price levels, will there be a significant difference in seats? I don't know how much time we'll have to fidget with Ticketmaster when the tickets go on sale next Sat. I'm scared they'll sell out, so I'm trying to get all information now.

Thanks so much for your help!

I'm from KC and Arrowhead stadium is pretty large. I think you can see from pretty much any angle it's just like with any stadium the farther up you are the more you will need binoculars. I would suggest going on youtube to see any snippets of the stadium to get a better feel for how high is going to be too high for you.:wizard:

Thanks! Any suggestions on hotels or an area of town for hotels? We've never been there, and I know in Indy, you don't want to stay near the stadium (or at least not in the same block!!).

I live in Kansas City, and you would be good getting a hotel in any of the neighboring cities of the stadium. Overland Park, Lenexa. I wouldn't want to stay super close to the stadium. Depending on what else you will be doing while you're in KC, there are lots of options.

We were season ticket holders til this year... and I would say most seats in Arrowhead would be fine. While our season tickets were in the touchdown zone, we've sat up high before (prior to being season ticket holders). While the 'cheapest' tickets NOW aren't my favorite (that would be up in the HIGH CORNERS of the upper level, which back in the day weren't a whole lot cheaper than the rest of the upper level)... they would work if it's a matter of working for your budget. When sitting up HIGH, I actually really enjoyed the 50 yard line... very top row in the stadium! While I was unsure about those seats, considering they were so high, they turned out to be great seats! We had those tickets for a Play Off game against Indy years ago... and I loved the location! I'll warn you though, it is def a long walk up... my dad that has heart problems could hardly handle the walk up, and warned me once we go down we're not coming back up! lol... As far as a place to stay, I'm from the area and have not stayed in any of the hotels out there. But it's not what I would personally consider a terrible area. The Coco Key Water Resort (like a Great Wolf Lodge) is where a lot of game day travellers used to stay (prior to becoming the water resort). Depending on what else you're doing while in town though, there might be other locations that would better serve you. The stadium is pretty convenient to most major places, so I wouldn't cut your options short.

Hope this helps!

I saw that passcode online, but didn't think I was eligible since I'm not a pass holder. Now I know that others are using it (scalpers!!! = YUCK!) but I didn't want my tickets to be taken back. What are they telling you about the code for the presale?

They are not selling out the whole stadium, so for $40 we can get the 50 yd line top or next to the goals just around the "corners" on the bottom. So I think we're set for tickets!

Hotel-wise, we haven't decided yet if we're going to come a day early and hang around KC or just jet in and out for the game. Either way, I found a couple of hotels in Independence which is on my way home (to Indy). So is it nice there? Would I be good to go?

Thanks so much for everyone's help. This is so last minute since I'm wanting to get good seats before they sell out and a hotel before everything cheaper/decent is booked.

And yes - GO MANU!!!!!!

My FIL has season tickets so we got the e-mail from him.

Independence isn't the greatest place, but there are parts that are decent. If you aren't lookin at staying around town, I would stay a little further east on I-70 (Grain Valley, Blue Springs).

our presale offer begins today, Thursday, May 6 at 4:00 p.m. (CST) and ends on Saturday, May 15 at 9:59 a.m. (CST).

Tickets can be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com/manuwizards. You will be required to use password STH.

Thanks for the presale info!! My sister asked me to buy the tickets for them on the 15th because they're going to be out of town. Now they can do it themselves!

It depends what part of Independence you are looking at; anything on Noland rd. may be a bit more run down but there are some newer/nicer hotels on the 70 corridor right next to the (east) side of Independence Center (shopping mall). I can't recall the names of all of them but if you search on the shopping mall's website I'm sure they have the name of some of the hotels located next to it. The stadium is maybe 10 minutes at most away from Independence Center. I wouldn't recommend a hotel all the way in Lenexa or Overland Park unless you really want to drive 30 minutes + to get to the stadium. I saw were someone recommended the Great Wolf, and it is fun for kids, pricey and almost a good hour away from the stadium. Blue Springs is further to the east, if you can't find a hotel in Independence I would also recommend looking at Lee Summit (it will keep you in closer range to the stadium) and hotels off of 470 or 291. :wizard:

We have stayed at the Drury Inn that's near the stadiums. It's not a bad place. I know lots of people who have stayed at the Holiday Inn across the street as well. You'll be fine staying in the hotels in the immediate area.

I think Independence is a great area to stay! Of course, I have lived here nearly all my life. If you stay by the Independence Center, I-70 & HWY291, there are tons of shopping, restaurants, and hotels. There is also the new Independence Event Center with a community ice skating rink. Not to mention the 20 screen movie theater! You might look at Holiday Inn Express or the CocoKey Resort. We love taking our kids there for a day just to play in the water park. They might also have a shuttle to the game so you can avoid $20 or so for parking. Have a blast!
