New Keurig owner here.

Granted, I like a good, strong cup of coffee. But I've noticed that coffee with some of the cups seems weak, even on small cup settings.

I did buy some Newman's Own Special Blend "Bold"yesterday, and those were better than some of the "regular" cups I bought, which were definitely weak.

Can someone with Keurig experience enlighten me? I don't want to waste money trying different brands or having to use two cups at a time.

Thanks. :drinking1

I use the "bold" and dark varieties. Coffee People "Jet Fuel" does it for me. And I hate to admit it, but Emeril's Big Easy Bold (or something like that) is pretty darn strong. In fact, I usually add a little water to both of those.

If you find those weak, well.... :worship::worship:

I agree Emeril's is pretty strong. I used to like milder coffees until I got my Keurig and started sampling all the different kinds. Now I like Kona and bold blends. I recently bought a bunch of sample packs from kenozacoffe.com, a lot of stronger ones to see what they were like. They were a little expensive, 5 cups for $2.30+S&H, but I am enjoying the variety. The strongest one I have had so far was Black Tiger and it about knocked my socks off! I almost tried the Jet Fuel this morning, but I picked a flavored one instead. I always brew mine on the regular cup size.

I wonder if Starbucks will ever make K-cups?

Emeril's Big Easy Bold is very strong. I can't drink it but its dh's favorite.

I am not a fan of really strong coffee but I like Caribou's French Roast and that is fairly strong. A while back, someone here recc' www.bigcatcoffee . com and that is a great site. You can create your own variety pack to try different kinds/strengths and the prices are really good.

We bought one last week after owning a nespresso machine for a year. I like my new machine because I don't like coffee and this allows me to make my teas and cup soups. I guess my husband thought this new machine was supposed to drop espresso syrup, because he was disappointed and said the new machine spits out too much water and the coffee is weak.

I understand how your DH feels. ;)

Most days I make a pot so it's not a huge deal. I bought this for something else but wound up keeping it.

I think it's handy for other things, too. Kids are enjoying it.

I just figured if I do want to keep some coffee cups onhand, I'd like to get some that actually taste good to me.

Thanks, mrsv

There are a bunch of extra bold flavors that you can try. Definitley stick with those if you like a stronger cup (I myself prefer weaker coffee so the Keurig works great for me!).

I have read that if you brew through the same kcup twice on the smallest setting that it will give you a stronger cup than brewing once on a larger setting. I have no idea if this is true, but that is what I have heard.

New Kuerig owner as well. DH drinks really strong espresso type coffees black no sugar :scared1: He has found that not using the largest cup setting also helps keep the coffee from being watered down.

I made myself a cheap mocha after shoveling snow today I made a cafe escape dark hot chocolate then in the same cup doughnut shop coffee. It was really good and not the $42 starbucks would charge ;) ALso no need to add any milk or cream it was fine the way it came out.

They sell a thing - I'd have to look for it, maybe someone will post it - that you can use your own coffee in. That's always been my best bet for a strong cup.

Other than that - the Newman's is the strongest one I've found.

try Green Mountain Coffee Sumatran or Dark Magic:thumbsup2

DH likes strong, dark roast coffees. The ones he likes best are:

Coffee People-
*Black Tiger
*Wake Up Call
*Jet Fuel
*French Roast
*Kona Blend

Emeril's Big Easy Bold
Timothy's San Lorenzo Dark
Timothy's Parisian Nights

Hubby likes his coffee strong. He find's Emeril's really strong. He also uses the expresso Bold expresso and Wicked winter bold seasonal, which is Green mountain. He uses the medium setting (mug) and he's happy with it. He can't imagine using those on the small setting.

Wow, didn't realize there were so many choices. Thanks.

I am not really a fan of dark roasts or other "unusual" coffees, although at one time or another, I've tried them all.

I like Eight O'Clock Regular Blend the best. I grind it fresh and to me, there's nothing better.

Cathryn Rose, I know what you mean: the filter. I'm going to buy one to try it, thanks. That might be the best solution for me.

Have you tried Coffee People Donut Shop yet? Dh says it is a great all-around medium roast. His parents LOVE it when they visit- and they usually think most of the k-cups he uses are too strong.

I have the opposite problem....I don't like dark coffee and I think the medium coffee's are too dark for me.

We have the same problem. Everyone raves about Donut Shop being a great middle of the road coffee but it is just too strong for us. We do keep it on hand though because it seems to be a safe choice for company. My DH really likes the Green Mountain Breakfast Blend.

I am new to Keurig too and find most of the coffee not strong enough. The best so far for me was the Emeril's big easy bold. I have to try Jet fuel.
