I actually read about this while at WDW when I was relaxing during our afternoon rest time. Its effective October 8-14 in settlement of a lawsuit. Does any one know about this? Our KB won't say a word, and according to the suit terms they don't have to. I have ready somewhere that you get the 30% off all qualifying purchases of $30 or more. With all that money saved it will go a long way to our next disney vacation (feb. hopefully).

So my questions are does anyone know about this? What exactly is a "qualifying purchase". I am looking at particularly the gameboy xp's. I sure hope video hardware is included. I have 3 ds who have birthdays in nov, dec. and jan. so this would really save a lot of cash.

Video games, accessories and hardware are not included. Someone on another board emailed the attorney for the suit and got that reply. I figured that it would exclude those items. Even Toys R Us excludes those items from coupons as well.

I read the Class Action Suit and it doesn't say anything about video games and systems being excluded. I am printing out a copy of the suit and will bring it with me when I shop.
Thank you for this, it is coming at a great time, I got my Christmas Club check this week.
I will let you know if I am able to get some video games, I would think that if you either get a young kid cashier or make enough noise the clerk will give you the discount for everything. Peggie

**Defendants will distribute the Net Settlement Fund by providing a discount at the cash registers of all KB Toys, KB Toy Works, KB Toy Outlet, Toy Liquidator and KB Toys Express stores nationwide, including Guam and Puerto Rico, equal to 30% off all qualifying purchases of $30 or more during October 8-14, 2003***

The keyword is "qualifying". Here is an except from the email a person on another board received back from the attorney:

Thanks for your inquiry.
Confirmed with KB Toys attorneys, the only exceptions are as follows:
The qualifications are as follows:

Excludes Gift Cards, Video Now products, video games, systems and

accessories. Discounts taken off lowest ticketed prices at register.

Sales taxes are not valid toward the $30 purchase requirement. Not valid

toward previous purchases.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Should have known that the little word qualifying is just that. sigh. But if anyone does get it on the big and expensive items please tell me. I wonder if they will really stick to their guns etc. Like how will they straighten out the mess if some stores do it and some do not etc. There are only 2 in my area that I could try.

If your KB is anything like ours, this may not be that good a deal, even on "qualifying" purchases. Ours has some older toys that are nicely discounted, but the current stuff is all considerably more expensive than Wal-Mart, Target and even Toys-R-Us.

Well, I'm definitely going to see what I can get. I have $100 in KBToys GCs from MileSource and that will get me $143 in merchandise. My nearest KBToys is in Delaware so that means NO SALES TAX! :Pinkbounc

I am bumping this up because the sale starts today and I want to know if anyone has had any luck getting the video items even though it is not suppose to be part of the qualified purchase. How about computer games? Thanks everyone.

I was at Kaybee today and the sales associate told me it was everything in the store. Get 30% off a purchase of $30.00 or more. There was only one other person in the store and she was buying a lot including video games. Keep in mind that this store also opened 30 minutes late and did not have a manager on duty at that time. When a manager does arrive maybe they will change the rules.

My KB had a big sign at the entrance and several smaller ones all over the store. Each one specifically stated that video games, video game consoles and video game accessories were excluded from the 30% off, albeit the words were in very small print.

I know I will never get to KB tonight and I leave for DISNEY on Saturday am, so my only choice is to go online??!!!

We went to KB today too. Ironically it was only by accident. I remembered reading the post here, but didn't plan on starting any Christmas shopping until after our trip at the end of the month. Anyhow, I got some really, really good deals. The signs did say no video games or systems. However, DS & DH both like these probuilder sets by Mega Blocks (lego style model kits). They were on sale for 25% off then the addtional 30%. To boot they were all already marked down to $14.99 (from 30-40.00). So I got them for $7.00 something each-- I would of spent the 30-40.00 at Christmas to get them too. So I saved a lot of money.

We found out about this sale by accident while at the Belz Outlet in Orlando.

We decided to check out the Character Warehouse and Character Premiere locations and happened upon the Toy Liquidators and they were running this sale. We didn't know they were a KB Toy store too. Toy Liquidators is in Mall 2 across from Character Warehouse.

We were able to pick up some Disney computer games ($5.88 each) and some Disney-themed watches and dolls for about $25 (original total about $33). Sale items were included in the $30 minimum so we were able to pick up a couple holiday gifts too.

I went to the KayBee in the mall today and cleaned them out of all their Mega Blocks. I am finsihed with most of my Christmas shopping for the niece and nephews and grandson.
The Video games were 10% off but I have seen better discounts in other stores so I will just wait and get my sons their stuff later on. My boys are 27, 24, and 20 but they still love their video games.
I bought almost $200 worth of stuff, and with the 25% off for Mega Blocks then the 30% off I got everything for $75. the kids are going to think Aunt Peggie is rich this year.
Thanks for letting me in on this class action suit, this board is a real money saver. Peggie

I just came from KB. I got the Rescue Heroes Firetruck for 26.49 after the discount and two Rescue Heroes Voicetech Figures with a free VHS pack with each one for 6.99 each after the discount. I was pretty pleased. I saw a lot of items that were still wayyy overpriced though!!

I agree I think some of the items were "marked up". In the store I was at, plenty of items had one price blacked out and a new one written on. I hate it when stores do that. Do they think we as consumers are that stupid. When they mark items down they put a single red line through it at KB-- they want you to see the original price. So you know you are getting a "deal".

I do think the best deals were with the items that were "on sale" and then the additional 30% off too.

thank you to whomever took the time to initiate this post. we went xmas shopping last night at KB with out the kids. we saved a TON of money. some of the deals were unbelievable! there was an additional 25% off the mega blocks merchandise (including the sale stuff) then add the 30% discount. some matchbox itme were buy one get one then 30% off the the one you purchased. it just doesnt get chaper than that. the disney stack of 4 princess shoes were on sale for $14.99 (down for $24) and then another 30% off. the playdough had a great deal also. i couldnt believe how much we saved. xmass shopping done in one night for the kids!!!!! wooohoooooo!

I was at our local KB and got the Bratz Salon & Spa for $35.99!!! It was 49.99 at Target and $59.99 at Toys R Us. They also had a lot of accessories that were hard to find. At 30% off -- it is a great bargain & I don't have to fight the X-mas crowds.

Watch the prices. My daughter is wanting the Polly Pocket mall for Christmas. I've been waiting for a sale to buy it. Normally at KB it has been $27.99 and it is now marked up to $32.99. I asked about matching the Toys R Us price of $25.99 and they wouldn't do it. Said they wouldn't match prices during a sale. They are definitely raising prices for the sale.
