JW Mariott in Cancun

Has anyone ever stayed here? We are goin gthe firsy week of May and would love any feedback.

I can't see it being anything but fabulous. Last March - my DH and I visited (we stayed at the Omni) and we went pass the JW Marriott in Cancun. We wanted to take a look around but the Marriott was still closed (even 4 months after that bad Hurricane). Anyway, the Marriott opened this past Fall - and received a FULL make over (as did almost all the hotels in Cancun). I have every intention on staying there next Spring (March 08) so I'd love to hear your review once you return. Also, cancuncare.com has some wonderful people posting great things on their message boards. Also, according to Tripadvisors.com, Marriott JW is #3 - and that’s pretty good considering that there are many 5+ star hotels. The Marriott JW is a Five Star. The Omni was a Six Star hotel, and I think that Marriott is nicer.

BTW, my DD (pictured below) - is waving from that Omni Cancun room - it has been completely rehabbed since this picture was taken. The hotel had only been open 1 week prior to our check in (after the hurricane) so we didn't get the rehabbed rooms.

I haven't stayed at the Cancun JW Marriott but I have stayed at others and their service is all outstanding, probably the best hotel service we have ever received. I wouldn't hesitate to make a reservation at any JW based on our experience at others. The JW designation is Marriott's top designation and the hotel has to uphold some pretty high standards to get that rating.

I have been to the JW two times, May 2005 and June 2006. It is a beautiful Hotel and the staff is really great. You will love it there. The pool area and the Beach are just so beautiful. I can't wait to go back, hopefully Spring 2008.

After reading this thread I checked out the reviews and candid photos on tripadvisor. This place looks incredible! Can any of you offer some advice on websites to book through to get the best price? I am a Marriott Rewards member (but I don't have any points. I registered to try to get the email offers for the Orlando properties).

I would like to take a trip next March Break. My husband refuses to go to Orlando in March.

I can't comment on the hotel. I can only comment on Cancun itself. Have a great time! I know that you have not asked for any places to go but - - - I just wanted to mention a restaurant called "Pericos". It is downtown and is really nice. They have a Mariachi band that plays during dinner and they do a show. It is really nice. Thought I would just pass it along to you. Have a great time!
