Justifying the price of GCH

Just wondering what the crowds were like walking back to the hotel? This is our alternative but I fear the crowds may be too much for my daughter and grandpa to deal with.

It was never a crowd I felt even slightly uncomfortable with.

To stay at the GCH, we either have the $$$$$ or we dont. Simple as that. Its AMAZING.

Get a notepad, pen, and a cup of your favorite coffee and simply call the Grand and ask to speak to someone that can tell you all of the Amenities included in a stay at the Grand. List each one. Now read it. You have the phone number for the Grand

I wish more people would not justify the price and stay elsewhere....

...so it hopefully brings the price down for those of us that do love it there!

The crowds going going back to the Harbor hotels are not bad at all. Don't be intimidated when there looks like a large crowd at the crosswalk, because it quickly thins out as everyone goes there own way down the sidewalk. Plus the sidwalks are fairly large, so it's no problem for someone taking their time walking with people passing on the left.

And I'm obnoxious. I like to time how long it takes to get from my room to the DL gate. My record is 2 minutes! (But that was before they changed the security setup so it probably takes a lot longer now).

It is actually on average QUICKER now for DLR hotel guests. While you may get the occasional AM backup, the cluster that was the checkpoint between DTD and Esplanade in now gone that often got backed up with all the tram gusts arriving as well.

The GCH to DTD checkpoint is often free flow walk though with no backup once the AM rush is gone.

The new system is a HUGE improvement IMO! We all still see the Harbor side that can be a nightmare at times! noting better than starting you day at the Happiest Place On Earth pizzed off trying to get into the parks!

2 reasons we haven't stayed there- the exchange to Canadian dollar is a killer, and mainly we only seem to visit every other year, so are park commandos open-close sorts so we really don't spend any time in our rooms.The 2 min walk to the hotel across the street from the gates is fine for us

My last visit was Spring 2016 and there was a checkpoint between DTD and the Esplanade as you described. Have they changed it again since? Before then, I don't remember what security was like... or if there was any for GCH guests.

Yes...DTD is now enveloped inside the security "bubble". Guests arriving via M&F garage are screened prior to getting on the tram at the garage and there is now two security lanes in the breezeway from GCH as you enter DTD. There is now free flow access between the parks and DTD...that security checkpoint is gone. MUCH better system!
