This story is about a political figure, but it is not "political". What happened to this man could happen to any Good Samaritan who thought he was doing the right thing. The fact that he had a democratic leadership position in the Ct. State Legislature, made his case very public. As such, he had to give up his leadership position and suffer damage to his reputation. As Ray Donovan famously said, "Where do I go to get my reputation back"? The Rocky Hill, Ct Police Dept went public with their arrest warrant and were very willing to talk to the press despite the fact that there was no evidence of wrong doing on this individual's part. He had to hire an attorney to defend against a case of negligent homocide, incur expenses and has had to deal with the stress of this situation, all because he didn't throw a drugged, drunk, out of control woman out of his car, who jumped into his car while he was driving away and gave her a ride home. :sad2:
What do you think?

Looks to me like it only made the news because he was a public figure. Seems like anymore being a good samaritan just gets you in lots of trouble.

He should have called the police after she left the vehicle. Even so, he isn't responsible for her death. After all, the police originally left a shoeless, coatless, belligerent, intoxicated woman standing in the frigid cold outside a bar. If he is responsible, then so were the officers who responded to the call at the bar.

He thought he was dropping her off at least near her home. That is where her friend said she lived. I agree, the police are far more culpable. She wasn't able to drive although her car was there. She wasn't allowed to go back into the bar, although her shoes and coat were there. I see them as most culpable. I can understand why he didn't call the police. He thought she was home.
