Woops, moved to the right spot:

We're about to head down for our site visit tomorrow for our June 10, 2011 wedding. So, I thought this was about time to start a planning journal and get some feedback on things we might want to ask when we meet with our planner (on Monday July 26th).

Background: On January 5, 2010 Katy and I got engaged in the California Grill on a surprise trip to Disney World. You can read about the planning, and afterwards here: in this post.

Now some background on our wedding plans. We're going to have somewhere between 60-100 people attend the ceremony and reception in Florida. Our ceremony is at 2:30 in the Wedding Pavilion. Reception location is up in the air: a ballroom at one of the MK area resorts, or Atlantic Dance Hall. Maybe something else that people might want to suggest. We're not too concerned weather the food is buffet style or plated (buffet only at ADH, right?). We're going to have a DJ for entertainment (recommendation?) We'd like to pick probably about 15-20 songs that will be played, and the rest can be up to him.

I think we're going to have our rehearsal dinner at the California Grill. I guess that's all the plans we have for now. I'll be sure to update this thread often. Maybe I'll be able to convince the bride to post too!

Congratulations on the engagement and wedding planning! I am from Buffalo also, and me and my DF are getting married next June too! (The 6th). We are using ADH for our reception, and you are correct it is buffet only (although we are planning on having "stations" rather than a typical buffet.) Have a great time at the site visit, I'm sure you will have a much better idea of where you want the reception after that.

So we've got our room block submitted, and reception locations. Plans are as follows:

Rehearsal Dinner in Napa Room at the California Grill
Wedding Pavilion for 2:30 Ceremony
Prereception on the Patio at the Grand Floridian Convention Center (forgot what this was called...)
Reception in a ballroom at the Grand Floridian (For ~100 guests).
Specifics - Cinderella's Coach rental.

Resorts:
Grand Floridian
Contemporary (we elected to use this instead of a moderate)
Pop Century

We're hoping to go back down around Christmas for final planning with the wedding planner.
