Is it "too late" for my kids and me to get a flu shot for it to be effective? I think we have gotten them at the beginning of October in the past but we skipped last year (AND all got the flu) and now I can't remember.

Also, has anyone else decided to get one or not get one and what was your reason?

My daughters just got their flu mists yesterday thorugh the school and my husband got his shot over the weekend at work.

We just got our shots on Sunday. We always wait to closer to Nov. Most of the country isn't seeing any flu activity yet except in very spotty cases.

The flu shot only gives immunity for about 6 months. That being said you are protecting yourself a bit further into spring by getting is now. I actually think now is a much better time......

They're giving them out at work tomorrow and Thursday. I don't do it mostly because I don't like needles (strong dislike!!) and also because I'm very leary of vaccines anyway. DH always gets one though.

Ow, I got mine today, so did DH. Our county's free shots only began last week.
DS got his at his annual in August.

No, it's not too late. I just went to the doctor today for a physical, and they offered me one. I had had one already so it wasn't necessary.

In the past I have gotten them as late as February, although I wouldn't recommend that....it just happened to work out for me that year because there had been a shortage, and then I didn't get to the clinic once they started vaccinating again.

I got mine on Oct 13th just because that was when my work was giving them out for free. Since I am being forced into the shot I didn't want to pay for it as well.

However I still see signs on the side of the road saying "Flu clinic here today" so I think it should be fine.

DH & I have always gotten them by now, mainly because my elderly mother lived with us. We just got different insurance and need to check on whether it's covered (so much isn't!)

I don't get them. Don't have a reason why. But I wouldn't think now is too late at all. It's only too late when you do get the flu.
