Hello Disney lovers~! I was wondering about the dining deal. I know when we go to DW we always get it and it saves $$$. Also we stay on Property and the only time we would leave is to go drive around Orlando. But not sure for DL. Do you get the plan? Or skip it. I know Disneyland is close to many restaurants and allot more choices with price. So what would you do? :confused3

hi, im still learning the ropes here for dLand too...we have been to wdw many times, and like you always stay on property, and do the dining plan...but i have learned this much:

dining plan is not good at dland. the best you can do is break even...not near the restaurant choices either.

dland only has 3 "on property" choices. they are all very expensive. they dont have value, mod and deluxe choices....

we are going to dland for the 1st time in november, and after much research and asking questions, we are staying at the hojo....but there are many walkable non-disney hotel choices.

good luck, and ask lots of questions....disers rock!!!!

Thanks Shelly! We might also go in Nov and staying at HOJO. If not we will be going in July. OK so I won't purchase the plan. It's hard learning a whole new resort. But that's the fun of planning right. The sad part is I am a work at home Disney travel agent, but all my clients go to DW. lol Oh well I love to learn new things. Thanks again.

ohhhh, that is my dream job! can you tell me all about it? and how i might go about doing the same thing.... pleaseeee! pm me if you can

We usually do budget DL trips so we stay across the street at Hojo or Park Vue Inn. Park Vue Inn is the closest hotel to the park after the Grand Cal. It is just your basic motel but its so close to run back to your room for a nap or break. DL Hotel and Paradise Pier Hotels are not close at all. It's faster to actually stay across the street.

We have never done the dining plan at DL. First off there aren't as many different dining choices as there are at WDW, very few in fact. Secondly, you are issued vouchers for certain amounts. If your total is $17.03 and you give them a $20 voucher you lose the other $2.97. They don't give you change. You pay just about what they are worth and then you might not get full use out of them. Instead we use our Disney Reward Dollars to pay for meals.
