if a DVC member books at the home resort, but as a paying guest, do they receive any kind of rate reduction? i have just wondered about this. thanks

Members can get a 25% discount at any DVC resort (not just home resort) but it is subject to availability, which often is limited especially more than 60 days before arrival. Also check with CRO, they sometimes offer 40% off or more with special codes or AP rates.

wow!! so, i if want to stay at the wilderness lodge, but not the villas, would that count?

Nope, the discount is only available at DVC properties. You may have luck with an AP discount at the lodge, however.
