New situation. We will be traveling with family and will book a 2-br and a studio-9 of us. We will all be eating in the 2-br. Can we request an extra setting from housekeeping?
Has anyone ever had this situation and how was your luck at getting the 2 rooms close together?
Also, since we are DVC members will our guests(family) be entitled to DVC discounts when we ask for them as long as they are with us?
What about pool hopping?
Can they get their own charge cards or are we the only ones who can charge? Or is it one "charge" card per room, since we will have 2 "rooms"?
TIA!

I have gone to OKW many times with my family and my parents. We always stay in a 2BR and a studio. We request that they are close together and have never had a problem. They are always in the same building and floor. As to discounts, pool hopping and charge cards, every person in both rooms gets a room key. The keys will all say DVC member. So all nine people will be able to get member discounts and pool hop. You can specifiy at check in if you want them to be charge cards also. You can split it up anyway you want.

I'm sure you can get an extra place setting from housekeeping. They usually are very accommodating.

You can request an extra place setting or 2 from housekeeping. Getting rooms close is usually not that difficult as long as it's your first or second listed request. Guests of members are entitled to all discounts and benefits with a couple of exceptions which likely don't apply in this case. PH is definitely OK for them as long as the pool is open to members. You can have one charge card per registered room. Sounds like you should be set all the way around. Your only potential snag might be that at the resorts other than OKW, the kitchen and dining area are pretty small. BCV is a little less so in that the table is a little larger, but still will be very cramped for 9 people. You may need to use some of the other chairs from the second BR or Balcony to have enough for 9 as I doubt DVC will give you any extra chairs. I'd hate to see the furniture moved from the studio to the 2 BR but you'll have to make the final call on what you need and how you can accomplish it. Good luck and enjoy.

We have moved chairs from one unit to another to accommodate a large family dinner for 13 while at OKW. Brought in the tables from the balconies and used the dining table it worked fine., We returned the moved furniture when done.
I have booked two 2br at OKW twice and requested they be near each other. One time they were in the unit over mine and the other the unit right beside mine. However this past week at BWV it was not so. I booked 11 months out for one 1BR and one 2BR. Only requests were non smoking and that they be close to each other. Well at least we were in the same zip code! My unit was on the first floor down two corridors, my guests were on the 4th floor next to the elevators. No one could really explain why we couldn't be closer.
We had a great time though.

To clear up the charge question a little bit. When you check in you can give them a charge card that you want any room charges to be charged to. This could be the same card for both rooms or two different cards.
Then you can request how many of your room keys are to be valid for charging. For example, we get five rooms keys, but only validate three of them for charging. The 16 and 11 year olds just get regular keys. :D
Hope that helps.

When we were at the BWV last week we got 4 key cards with charging priveleges and two cards without priveleges for the kids. But the kids' cards did nothing, did not function as keys or anything. I asked at the front desk and they said they were just for the kids to play with...that either all cards with "key" ability had to be able to charge or we get these cards for Resort ID purposes (for EMH for example) but no ability to open the door or charge. CM said you cannot have a card that works as a key and not as a charge unless ALL are not functioning as charge cards.

Where did they get that from? We have had charge privileges on just the adult cards before and the kids could still use their room keys to get in the room. Also, this last time we went with my sister and her husband and they had charge privileges on their cards but we didn't on ours. I know we didn't because my husband, out of habit, handed his room card over to a CM at a restaurant and it had no charge privileges on it. But we could still get in our door with the keys.

The room keys are a funny thing. We have never had a problem at OKW, the kids keys worked on the room, but you could not charge. The last time we stayed at BCV and the kids keys did nothing. We went down and asked them for keys that worked for the room. Just make sure you tell the at check in how you want your keys to work.
