I am travelling with my DS, 5, in March. We arrive on a Thur afternoon and leave the following Tues at 6 pm . Conceivably, we could go to parks on both of the travel days. I was going to just stick with WDW, but a friend I spoke with last night said Ben is the PERFECT age for Universal. What about Island of Adventure? I'm not familiar with EITHER one of those parks, and the New Unofficial Guide hasn't come out yet, so I haven't started my "research". Can anyone help me??? Thanks so much.... I'm confused

I find that Universal and Islands of Adventure are more suited to ages 8 and above. Many more of the attractions have height restrictions than you will find in WDW. For this trip, I would stick to WDW and try for Universal when DS is a bit older.

I have to agree with eeyore. My kids are 11, 11, & 9 and we just started adding US/IOA to our vacations a little over a year ago. US does have some neat things for younger children, such as the Curious George area where they have a ball factory and a place to play in the water, but not really enough to warrant leaving WDW for a 5 yo. We also only do both parks when we are vacationing for 7 days or more. It's really hard to sqeeze all of the parks in during a shorter vacation. We change resort areas and stay in a US resort when we go to those parks. You can go to the front of the lines for the attractions when you stay onsite. That's probably what you'd want to do if you go in March. Again, a lot to do in 5 or 6 days. I'd stick with WDW, you'll have PLENTY to do there! :teeth: Have fun!

I just warned a friend of mine that her kids were too young for Universal. I love the 2 parks, but there really isn't much for kids.

I would have to agree also. 5 is too young to really enjoy Universal. Suess Landing is amusing, but anything at MK is much better. Wait until he's ready for the thrill rides.

I'm so glad you all responded that way. I know we can't do it all anyway, so that is good news to me. I appreciate all your help!!!!

I have been to to Universal parks many times and I agree your son is too young to make the cost of the ticket worthwhile.

However, Seaworld would be great. Lots of hands on activites and just a beautiful park.

herc.

My dd is turning 9 on this trip and my ds will be 7. We are taking an extended family trip (9 people) for 10 days and my brother (30) insists that Universal is all the rage. I am interested in hearing input, since I've never been to Universal.

My son is 6 yo. To tell the truth, we were able to do everything that would appeal to a child his age in one day, and still had time to have a late lunch at Margaritaville cafe. I will need to wait until he really likes the thrill rides, and asks to go again. He liked Shrek and Johnny Neutron and Animal Planet, as well as the Seussville. He was afraid of Jurassic Park, and sort of afraid of Spiderman--he was crying on the ride, but, said afterward, he actually liked it. The rest of the rides were refused because they were too intense for his taste. For us, it definitely wasn't worth the effort and expense to go there.

everyone is talking about ioa on here and not the other park. we go there every year since my ds was 5 and he loves it more than disney. i do agree that ioa is not for young kids but universal is! they have nicalodean studios jimmy neutron ride shreck men in black (which is my ds favorite) i definatly say go to universal just not ioa the other park is definatly worth the money! :cool1:
