:scared1: I don't think i will be eating any fast food for a while. :earseek:

We watched that last year in school. It only made me crave French Fries and Ben and Jerry's ice cream. LOL. That was the most fun we ever had in Freshman Seminar, though. We ran around the auditorium barefoot. LOL. Luckily, one of my friends told me not to look at the part where he is in the car and gets sick. That was gross.

I already don't eat fast food (never have), but thanks to this movie I wil never even be tempted!

The part where he barfs after eating all the fast food was really disgusting!! The absolute worst part (for me) was hearing what the fast food was doing to his cholesterol, blood pressure, weight, etc., though. The funniest part was that his girlfriend is a "vegan chef" :rotfl2: She was so grossed out by his diet for that month :earseek:

My DH and I used to be occasional fast food people. We saw this documentary in the theatre May of 2004 and literally haven't stepped inside of a fast food restaurant since (or the drive-through ;) )

That movie is so silly to me...my bf and I have both seen it and it cracks us up! Let's see...you go to a fast food place for EVERY meal of the day and eat as much as you POSSIBLY can for a month. Yah...ya think you might have some health problems and put on some pounds??? DUH.

I don't see why this movie is any big revelation to some people. My BF and I eat fastfood about once or twice a week, and are no worse for wear. I even ate fast food 3x a week when I was on Weight Watchers and lost 30 lbs. If this movie was trying to discourage us from going to fast food restaurants...it didn't work. There are healthy options at every fast food place, and it's even okay to eat burgers and fries once in a while if you're active!

I haven't seen Supersize Me, but I did recently read his book "Don't Eat This Book" and it makes me leery of going to a fast food joint.
Ugh.

TOV

I haven't seen it, but one of the things I read in interviews with the maker is that he followed certain "rules", which included always ordering extras if asked ("would you like fries with that?" "would you like a combo meal?" "Is there anything else?" "Would you like to supersize that?")
Of course if you do that, you will be eating more than you should. Whenever I order any fast food, I always answer no to all those questions.

Here's a link to a story about a woman who made a movie about the McD's diet and how she lost weight following it.

actually, it did. The "healthy food" options at nearly every Fast Food type chain increased tremendously after this movie.

DH and I watched this movie a few months ago. Then DH read "Don't Eat This Book". It made him swear off fast food forever. I still eat fast food occasionally, but never McDonald's or Burger King. Just Taco Bell or Subway. I went to McDonald's a couple of months ago when they had the Disney toys and just bought the toys and I couldn't even imagine eating the food. :crazy2:

My biggest complaint with fast food is the way they design their menus. It's fine to give a disount when you order a combo meal...but really, they make those meals so prominent on the menu a big #1 #2 #3 etc. You really have to look to find the price of the individual items. Rarely is there even a description of the meals...just a photo...have Americans suddenly become completely illiterate?

Maybe it's a regional thing, but the way he ate for the month did not seem SO far-fetched to me. I've worked with people who ate fast food for at least 2 meals a day. They did not seem to realize the stuff they ate was not good for them (I'm assuming this because they fed their kids the same way--I just can't believe they would give their kids a couple of meals a day consisting of chicken nuggets, burgers, fries, and cokes, if they had any inkling how unhealthy it was).

We watched that, the whole time I was thinking 'that is so gross how can he eat that much,' but when i got done watching I CRAVED some mcdonalds for a LONG TIME!!!

I guess that is why weight has always been an issue for me :flower:

All things in moderation. The voice of common sense.

Yeah, well, that's where the profit is: the bigger burgers (instead of the plain, small hamburger), gotta have fries on the side, and -- king of the profit margins -- the soda. They make it so easy to order the three-course meal!

This did happen, but I think it was some pending lawsuits that forced the change, not the movie.

The movie surely helped put additional pressure on the chain, by raising public awareness like an esoteric set of lawsuits was unable to do.

I saw the movie a few months ago. I also enjoyed his tv series, 30 Days.

Its scary how McD's brainwashes children into wanting McD's. The part where the kids recognized a picture of Ronald McDonald, but not a pic of Bush or Jesus was really scary and telling!

Sheesh, have you been to a grocery store lately? Some of the stuff they sell.....deep fried fat, just pop em in the microwave until they drip and ooze grease (mozzarella sticks or something like that) and all those ice creams and little snack cakes, pies, donuts, whole milk....the list is endless!! ugh.

Just say "no". Unless you want it.... then say "yes".
