I just took my baby to first grade. Last year when she was in Kindergarten, it was only half day. Last year she was home by 11:15..Now, she is in the big leagues;),she will be in school until 2:30... I dont know what I will do? My son is a Junior in in highschool, my other daughter is starting Middle school today, and my baby in first grade.
I knew this day was coming..but it seems so unreal that I wont see her until 2:30..Yes, I am a sap.. I am one of those parents who DOES NOT look forward to the first day of school, and wishes summer vacation lasted 6 months!:thumbsup2

When our kids were in elementary school a bunch of us had a standing Tee time to golf shortly after we dropped off the kids, we went out for lunch after that and just had a fun day. The rest of the school year I would get the housework done and run any errands I needed before the kids got home because once they got home there wasn't time for doing those things.

I'm jealous that you only had to deal with half days the first year of school, my baby started school last week and he's gone all day :(

It seems that many of the schools do have all day Kindergarten. We just happen to be at a school that does half days. I dont know what I would of done if she were gone all day last year. The first part of the school year she would come home, eat lunch and take a nap...I remember watching her sleeping and thinking how could my baby go all day;)
Of course at the ripe old age of 6, she doesnt nap on a regular basis so I think she will be fine.

My son has his first day of Kindergarten here and it will be all day! :thumbsup2

He'll be back close to 4 p.m.

It will give me a chance to pack for our trip to WDW this weekend

And with my free time, I should either 1. have the cleanest house in the neighborhood or 2. have the best best shape in the neighborhood from working out (I know, wishful thinking!)

we just went thru this last week. my twins are in 1st now and go full day. for the first time in 8.5 years I am kid-free for 6 hours! a very strange feeling.

I will say, though, that at least as far as the 2 days went last week the time flew by. it was really quick. and not as emotional as I thought it might be. might be because I'm sick right now, so it was nice to get some rest. I'm curious as to when it will really hit me.

good luck!

I also have a first grader starting today! She's my youngest, I won't pick her up till 3:30. I will be busy today with my college classes (10-1), then I have to run and get something for dinner, get my stuff ready for my classes tomorrow, finish up homework, grab the younger kids at 3:30, make them do homework and then soccer at 5:30 till 7. Is it summer yet? :lmao:

Oh all too clearly I remember that day when my 2nd DD went all day...she is now 23. I was a lost soul...I loved the days of my girls being home. They never are again...not really. Once they enter the school system...it ends at University and they are off and running!!

You will learn to enjoy the days...and love the ones they are home even more!:flower3:

At least when she was in K you got until 11:15. My DD will be back from K at 10:45! Not time to get much done as I am still sleepy lol. My DS is in first this year so it is strange just having her until he gets home at 2:20. I should have a clean house and workout, but I am not. I am going to try and make a schedule so I can motivate myself to get things done. Next year I will be in you position when they are both at school all day.

Last year my youngest started full day K and I felt the same way. I have taken up running and rediscovered my love of reading. I love a good book!! My dh and I also get to have lunch ALONE any day of the week--so nice!!

This week I am starting a cake decorating class. That should be fun. I also signed up to be in a study for brain research.

Cleaning out the my closet is the biggie on my list. I hate to think of tackling that job.:scared1:

I am one of those people that really love having my kids around but when they have to return to school I find some interesting things to do myself. You'll get there too! :thumbsup2
