Will Disney change things forever. Like,, just a few

  • Going cashless, Disney will not take cash... Everything will have
to be charge . Single day people will have to buy a park pass get a MB have a charge account set up with credit card

All food,
(May include sit down restaurant)
will have to be order on your phone. Using MDE app Doing away with order takers/ cashier
( even if you want a ice cream bar. Outside cart . You must order it get QC on your phone to Pick it up
Or

Using Soda machine, and other type of machines, at parks that used magic band for payment. For soda, pretzels, popcorn, fruit. Water, Even like the old automat. windows with hotdogs ,hamburger, pizza , turkey legs

Limiting housekeeping at hotels. They are doing this now by offering $15 a day off room for no housekeeping . Some system of exchanging towels and sheets

All rides, and show are fast passed/ boarding pass. Only
You get three or four in advance. then will have to get others at park to complete your day. MDE app.

They will start using active part of MB to keep track of people.
And Waite times. Directing you to the ride with less Waite time I’m your area
MB will also be used when you leave. Knowing what hotel you are staying at. Will direct you to your bus. Or tell you what time to be at bus stop for your bus. To avoid large lines at bus stop at closing

For people staying at there hotels. Baggage checks are done everytime you enter your hotel from the outside. Luggage will be X-ray like airport . Then at the parks you MB in skip there luggage check or have a bus people enter differently avoiding park baggage check

This can go on for ever

Any thought on this ?

No on cashless.

No on ordering all food online.

Soda will be poured by CMs. No more health-unknown guests touching machines.

Current plan is to provide limited housekeeping with, apparently, no bonus/incentive.

No on the boarding/fast pass requirement. Attractions would be overloaded in the morning, and guests will be frustrated being forced to compete for additional attraction access.

MB used for tracking, not universally. The Magic Band does not contain any actual information. And for this and other technology suggestions, it needs to be remembered that not everyone has a smartphone.

Disney not allowing luggage on its non-CMS transportstion, along with guests not carrying their luggage in and out of the hotel ever time they enter or exit, along with the unnecessary added expense of crazy machines, make the last suggestions moot, unnecessary and frankly confusing.

Well, it works for cruise ships, but that's a much more "closed" system.
If you mean people would have to use credit cards to purchase food /souvenirs, I don't think that would make much of a difference. I think every year people rely less and less on cash.

For what purpose? How does this keep anyone safer?

I think most people like having housekeeping at hotels -- but the choice is nice for those who are afraid for someone to come into their room and/or who want to save the $15. However, it means cutting jobs.

Again, for what purpose? The few fast passes we're allowed now are great, but what would we gain by going 100% reserved rides? And what about the people who don't use fast passes? That is, the people who just want to walk in /don't plan like us?

What would they gain by adding all this work for themselves? And what about people who don't have Magic Bands?

For people staying at there hotels. Baggage checks are done everytime you enter your hotel from the outside. Luggage will be X-ray like airport . Then at the parks you MB in skip there luggage check or have a bus people enter differently avoiding park baggage check
Once more, what would they gain from this? Are you thinking they'd look for the virus on baggage? Why would they keep searching every time you leave/return?

No, most of this is reasonable.

I would point out that people are relying MORE on cash since the pandemic started. The Federal Reserve had to issue a statement asking people to stop hoarding cash, historic demand for cash not seen since Y2K. And just two days ago they admitted there is a nationwide shortage of coins due to increased usage.

I think the big eye opener for a lot of people since the pandemic hit is how many people do not have credit cards (25%*) cell phones, (and internet access at home for that matter).
So not sure the above will work.

:confused3 Unless "...stashing cash in the bank..." literally means storing it in safe deposit boxes, this neither supports not refuted the statement quoted.

That would be interesting. I thought I was the only one with a safe deposit box.....two actually.

So far, that does not appear to be the case. Disney will increase the number of QS locations that take mobile orders and they have introduced a QR code scan for checking in at TS locations instead of going to the podium. But ordering TS looks like it will be unchanged with the exception of disposable paper menus.
  • Limiting housekeeping at hotels. They are doing this now by offering $15 a day off room for no housekeeping . Some system of exchanging towels and sheets. They are already doing this, although it doesn’t appear that they are offering anything if you decline housekeeping. When you do online check in now, you have the option to choose everyother day or no housekeeping. DVC stays will continue to follow the old cleaning schedule. New towel packs can be requested and will be left at your door, not inside your room.
  • All rides, and show are fast passed/ boarding pass. Only
You get three or four in advance. then will have to get others at park to complete your day. MDE app.
Fastpasses have been eliminated and there will be no virtual queues or boarding passes for the foreseeable future. Fastpass lines will be merged with standby lines to create one, single, socially distanced line. There will be no single rider lines. DAS will still be offered.
  • They will start using active part of MB to keep track of people. And Waite times. Directing you to the ride with less Waite time I’m your area. MB will also be used when you leave. Knowing what hotel you are staying at. Will direct you to your bus. Or tell you what time to be at bus stop for your bus. To avoid large lines at bus stop at closing. Complimentary MagicBands with your resort stay are being eliminated in 2021. They will still be available for purchase. Look for a shift to using your smart phone to unlock rooms and for park entrance. Smart technology will also preplan your park touring for you and direct you to shorter lines. It will also alert you to shows, parades and fireworks start times if you’ve programmed the Genie to tell you.
  • For people staying at there hotels. Baggage checks are done everytime you enter your hotel from the outside. Luggage will be X-ray like airport . Then at the parks you MB in skip there luggage check or have a bus people enter differently avoiding park baggage check. Smart technology that is currently being tested at Disney Springs will eliminate the need to expose guests and CMs to x-rays. Expect it to replace bag checks at the park once Disney is satisfied that the test has been successful. Since luggage coming from the airport via Magical Express will have already been x-rayed at the airport, the requirement to x-ray all luggage would be redundant.

I can see cashless at Disney. The process of purchasing and checking out cashless is much faster than cash and getting change back - especially when the cashier is out of coins or bills and has to wait for the supervisor to bring more, then exchange equal funds to turn around and give you your change. I haven't used cash since this pandemic started. The surface of money passes hands far faster than most everything.

Hoarding money like hoarding TP: both should slow down as time passes.

Interesting. I thought people were leaning more towards credit cards because it's less contact /you're not touching cash that's been in someone else's possession. I know I can't get "cash back" at my favorite grocery store anymore. And people who are doing the "order ahead and pick up" thing have to use a credit card.

I'm tempted to say, "Why would people hoard cash?" But then I remembered I'm doing Swagbucks /cashing in $25 gift cards for groceries /pulling out $25 cash /stashing it for our next Disney trip. And I don't think of this as "hoarding" -- and this isn't a new thing for me.

Yes, my daughter works at a retail store that isn't "open" but she goes into work each day and preps packages for mail-order. She and I talked the other night about how people who don't have good credit /who don't have credit cards for whatever other reason don't have the options right now that we have; that is, they can't do the "order ahead thing".
But ordering TS looks like it will be unchanged with the exception of disposable paper menus.
Paper menus would keep us safer, though it's not all that significant an issue. The virus isn't easily spread on objects; if you were in the parks, you'd have a much better chance of catching it from someone in line than from a menu.

Really? I didn't know that.

You're clearly well-informed. Can you tell us more about this new tech? When it comes to the parks (I assume that's the future goal), it'll certainly make park entry faster.

Those last three are not from me, not sure how you got them listed as being my posts.

There are a lot of other issues being addressed here, but I'm piping in for a limited purpose: I had no idea that the complimentary resort MagicBand was being phased out. What a bummer! My family and I greatly looked forward to that wintry day when the MagicBands arrived.

Here is there thinking.. "Disney also announced that it will retire complimentary Magic Band distribution to hotel guests starting January 1. Instead, Magic Band functionality will transfer to the My Disney Experience app, using the app’s existing digital key feature. Magic Band will continue to be available for purchase, but the expectation will be that you can use your phone and the app for anything you used the Magic Band for before, even though you can keeping using Magic Bands, if you'd like"
