Just the girls this time, no DH. Anyone else?

My first and only time to WDW was Dec. 2000. I had saved and planned for over 10 years to make this wonderful romantic trip for me and my DH. He doesn't like crowds, but I was sure he would have a wonderful time in WDW once we got there. WRONG. He totally missed the "magic". I went when the Christmas decorations were up. When we were walking through the Osborne Family lights I was in awe of how wonderful everything was...snow, carrolers, the lights and when I told him that, his comment was...It's all fake. So with that said. I decided to go this time with a girlfriend and I know this is going to be a totally different experience.
Does anyone else has a spouse that isn't "Disney" friendly?
I am so excited about this trip the first week of Nov. 2004....can't wait to share with my friend, she has never been...:Pinkbounc :bounce:  :wave2:

Oh, I'm so sorry your DH isn't in tune with the magic. That must have been sort of frustrating...I completely agree going with a girlfriend is a great idea.

My DH loves WDW and "gets" the magic, thankfully. HOwever, before I met him, I used to love going to WDW with my best girlfriend. We had an absolute blast....we went out dancing at 8trax every night and were literally up at the crack of dawn doing things every day. I've never ever gotten so much done on a vacation before. We had such a great time.

However, I was exhausted from the vacation when I returned home. :p

You will have a great time, especially with a Disney newbie! Women tend to see things differently then men, you will be able to enjoy things at a slower pace and also enjoy all the great shops! If someone just doesn't get it they don't get it. You may find that this is the way you may want to do all your Disney trips! You also chose a great time of the year to visit weather wise. I am sure you two will have a great time..........:cat: :fish:

My DH gets the magic, fortunately!! Not quite as much as I do, but enough to have him committed to a family Disney trip every other year ::MickeyMo :teeth:

But, my mom sister and I go on a girls trip every other year and this October it will be in Walt Disney World!!! :cheer2: We are doing MNNSHP, too (our first time!).

I love going with the family, but am REALLY looking forward to just us 'girls'.

My DH does get the Disney magic and loves going. However, last September (03) I went with a girlfriend who had never been and we had a blast! So much so that we're going again in January. We're doing a family trip in November of this year so my husband, DS (2 and a half) and I can all go together but I'm really looking forward to the January trip. I highly recommend going with a friend, provided you travel well together and want to do Disney the same way (commando, leisurely, whatever). It's a very different experience and a lot of fun - enjoy!

Keep working on him but very gently!!! My dh just didin't get it either. Couldn't figure out for the life of him why I would want to keep going. Well, my second trip was his first. We went with another family and it was just okay. He said we would have to do it by ourselves. Hmmmm. So we went again last summer. Voila...he, on his own, gave our phone number to the DVC people, they called, had BWVs for sale, we bought the minimum points and we're heading down in August for our first trip 'home'. He even went to a DisMeet in Boston with my dd and me last week-end. Seemed to have a good time. And found out that we fanatics are not such a bad bunch!!!

So, maybe there is hope for your dh. Try a more resort based vacation there. Go to the parks but not as often as you might if he weren't there. Eat at the nicer places and catch some of the good shows, try Pleasure Island. You never know. He could come around. However, my dd, 10, and I did make a ladies only trip in Dec. that was truly wonderful.

My mom and I are doing our second girls-only trip next month. My dad definitely knows his way around WDW but isn't quite as obsessed as we are. So while he and my brother trek across entire countries and sleep on the ground, we'll be lounging at the Polynesian. ;)

My DH has a wonderful time while there, but he's not WDW obsessed like me. He'll go with me every other or every third year. So I get a trip with him, BIL and BIL's GF this year. Next year just my mom, sis and I. It works out better this way. He doesn't burn out and I get time with my favorite gals. :)
