We ate at Tony's 2 years ago and had a GREAT experience all around. But after reading the recent reviews not only were we nervous, but we wanted to try something new.
I just called today and switched my reservation to Kona's at 5pm. A bit earlier than we had thought originally, but I think my son (who will be 7) and my DD who will be almost 2 will enjoy the boat ride over from MK.

SO-for folks who have enjoyed Kona-have you done it with kids?
Oh and I should say my 7 year old is a great eater and will try a lot of new foods and my DD will eat almost anything as well.

Also my son's b-day is the week before we head to Disney-will they still do an b-day things for him at the restaurants or no? (and should I call and tell the dining plan folks about his b-day?)

TIA :flower3:

Tony's was our best TS Meal last Sept.
I'm looking forward to eating there again this upcoming
trip--I don't care what others think of Tony's.
It's our Favorite place to eat.
Hope you have an enjoyable meal at Konas.

You will love Kona......the prime rib and filet are AWESOME :cool1: :cool1:. Our DS15 loves the cheeseburgers there as he isn't much of a steak eater, so he usually opts for something like chicken tenders or a cheeseburger ;). And our DS13 is quite the steak eater and can't get enough of the filet at Kona . Enjoy your meal :).

Take reviews with a grain of salt. We love Tony's. We eat there every visit for our first meal. We ate there in June and had a lovely meal. Have a wonderful trip!

We love Tony's, but we LOVED Kona :)

I agree with the others though, horses for courses and all that!

Definitely call up the Disney Dining Line and tell them to make a note on all your reservations that you are celebrating a birthday - remember, you might not get anything, so don't go expecting anything and you might be surprised if you do get something!

Listen but don't listen to reviews. They will drive you crazy. Tonys is good. Never been to Kona for dinner but the breakfast is great!

My kids are clamoring for Kona for our upcoming trips - they LOVE it!! DD(12) had her first prime rib there last summer and DS loves the NY strip, I'm a filet-lover, myself - and the desserts - oh - and the crabcakes! - are to die for!!!

You will not regret the choice - Kona's is a not-so-hidden anymore treasure!!!!

We are trying both Tony's and Kona for the first time in just a couple weeks! :cool1: I've been reading the reviews but won't change any reservations. We like to try new things and decide for ourselves. Hope you enjoy Kona!

Kona was my favorite meal by far our last trip...and I did the very same thing as you...cancelled a Tony's ADR and scheduled Kona instead.

My kids were 4 & 5 last time we ate there and loved it.:goodvibes

Thanks!
I am taking the reviews with a grain of salt, but we were absolutely not set on Tony's-we were looking for another place at MK but did not want another character dinner since we are doing Chef Mickey's already and neither of my kids really likes the characters, so we settled for Tony's.

We like to try new places and I think my kids will like the boat ride over from MK to the hotel. Plus it will take us out of the hustle and bustle of the parks for a bit and we can decide to go back that night or not (or just take our oldest back to the park and my DD back to the room).

We loved Tony's but was disappointed with Kona. I don't care to go back to Kona in the future. Hope you have a great time.

Kona's was the best meal of our last trip! I had the Tuna Oscar- to die for! Dh was so impressed with this place- it's a must do for us next time.
