We booked at HIFS due to this board! I am sure we won't be disappointed. The only thing I worry about is transit time to the parks to the hotels. We always take a mid-day break..and usually stay at the POLY..where we get to in record time!

Everybody reassure me again..about the transit time! PLEASE!

Katie

You won't be sorry!

I was there 1/2-1/7. I thought it was awesome. It was our fifth trip in a year and a half and the best hotel so far.

I already had reservations for the Dolphin made for our trip in May. My son is sooooo disappointed that we won't be going back to the HIFS! And this is after he told everybody how THRILLED he was to go to the Dolphin next...

One night in his own room and the Dolphin became toast!

I now had to change my room to a suite at the Dolphin. We are spoiled!

I loved the room, the space, the service and especially the buffet. We always enjoyed the morning ritual.

Enjoy!

1. Is there a place by the pool to eat, and do the kids eat free there (at the pool I mean).

2. Mugs can you refill them by the pool or only in the food court?

3. Anything you didnt' bring that you should have?

4. Pool toys, I saw the alligators in some pix, are they expensive to rent?

5. WHY AREN'T YOU SWITCHING OVER TO HIFS IN MAY?? Just had to ask......lol!

I really cannot answer ANY pool questions, goofymom/pop, sorry. The HEAT of the day was a balmy 50 degrees...

What didn't I bring? Not a thing. I brought TOO MANY things, like summer clothing, just in case.. I also left my son's toothpaste and toothbrush on my bed  and they were kind enough to give us complimentary ones.

I did not buy the mug, either. Everything is free at the food court till 11am, and we were at the parks most of the rest of the day. We kept juices from the buffet in the refrigerator.

And WHY DIDN'T I CHANGE TO HIFS FOR MAY??? <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

You sound like my son!!!

I already had a sweet deal with the Dolphin thru SwanDolphin, who is a living doll, and I just had to stay there after all I put him through. My son was disappointed but I told him I'll try to make the most of it... can you BELIEVE this???

I have just logged on to this board. I would like to know what HIFS is. Is it short for something? I am interested in booking so any info would be appreciated.

Hi Sharon,
I've just been reading along, but I know what HIFS is. It's Holiday Inn Family Suites. It sure sounds good. Only once I read that a family thought the buffet in the morning for Breakfast wasn't really very good. I just keep reading along to see what everyone thinks.
;) I love this board!

I think the floats are $4.00 an hour to rent...we just charged it to our room so didn't pay attention! I don't think they have kids meals at the pool...but the lobby is SO close you can get pizza/burgers there and bring them out to the pool.

HIFS is VERY close to the parks...we drove ourselves so I can't comment on their shuttle service, though.

Don't bring beach/pool towels -- they have TONS at the pool. You CAN bring your own pool floats, also if you have a little one that uses something.

They supply paper towels in the room -- that was the only thing we brought that we didn't need.

I'm sure everyone that is going will love it. I, also, have only seen a few negative posts re:HIFS. We loved it and can't wait to go back again!

We stayed last February at the HIFS in a Classic suite which is 2 bedroom. We had enough room for all of us (2parents, 2kids). We LOVED the breakfast buffet in the mornings, keep us full until later in the afternoon when we could eat at the parks and therefore saved us money. We were able to book the suite last year for $99 per nite and this February we are going again and the rates have gone up but I found the BEST deal right here on DreamRes for $107 per nite for a kidsuite. We did use their shuttle, they will give you a schedule of when their departure and pickup times are. We FROZE last year waiting for the buses in the evening and were worried that we might miss our bus so this year we have rented a car for the week for the same price as the towncar from the airport to the hotel and cab fare to Universal. The kids enjoyed the game room at the hotel also on nights when the parks closed early and your shuttle bus took you back early to the hotel. I would recommend it to anyone!

Drive down the road a few miles to Publix and you can buy an alligator or killer whale float for about the same as one hour's rental.
