We just moved to Florida, and decided that it would be nice to take a weekend getaway to WDW, so I called CRO and asked what they had available for either the AP pass discount or the Florida Resident discount. I was able to get AS-Movies for only $59 per night this past weekend. In fact, they had availability at all of the AS resorts within 10 days at the Florida Discounted rate.

We arrived on Friday, June 13th at 7:30 am and were immediately able to access our room. We stayed in the 101 Dalmation building, room 4845 on the 2nd floor, with a garden view.

The room was nice, not fancy, but nice. Our daughter was quite enchanted with the popcorn box light fixture and the Dalmation boarder, not to mention the 3 story Purdy and Pongo in front of the central staircases and the fire hydrants that surround the stairs at the ends of each building.

The food court was very good, with a great selection and wonderfully friendly and helpful castmembers. We had no difficultiies with check in, and our luggage was waiting for us in our room when we returned from the parks. Guest services was helpful, as well.

The Fantasia Pool was closed for an emergency rehab while we were there, but they provided a shuttle to any of the other AS pools in front on the main building. We walked to the main pool at the AS Music and DD loved the 3 Cabareros in the center shooting their water guns at the guests. We didn't find the pools to be overwhelmed with swimmers, and had no difficulty finding a chase lounge.

We did notice that you could hear the toilets flushing in the surrounding rooms throughout the night, but other than that, we had no real complaints. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were neat and clean.

Bus service was good, but be warned that if you want to go to EE morning (especially at the MK), get to the bus stop around 7 am. When we arrived at the bus stop around 7:30, there were at least 3 bus loads of people in line. We decided to drive, and even with parking and taking the monorail, we saw the same people getting on the bus when we left the resort getting in line to go through the turnstiles at the park when we did. And we would have been at least 3 busses behind them!

Although I will probably never be converted from being a true moderate resort fan, I can definitely see the attraction of the All Star Resorts, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again!

Movies is at a 99.9% occupancy rate. Music and Sports are right up there, as well. As such, lines such as you described will be common during peak times. However, with our flexible demand based "Magic On Demand" dispatching system, we do rise to meet the demand. Although the posted interval is every 15-20 minutes, during peak morning hours, its not uncommon to see one bus pull out, and the next bus pull right in after it.

On a side note, for those who didn't see my post in the Transportation board... All-Star Movies is going to be undergoing a test this summer. During the peak evening hours, Movies will be separating from Sports & Music for the Disney-MGM Studios and Downtown Disney. If it goes well, potentially for Animal Kingdom as well. This is only a test, and is subject to change at any given moment. Just follow the signs at the load zones, and make sure to read the destination sign on the bus.

Hi! We are Fl Residents, too and I just wanted to share some of the FL Res rates we've had:

In 2002-
ASmo and ASSp- $49
AKL-$119
CBR-$ 84
in 2003-
CSR- $109 in peak season!!! We loved it here and thought it was well worth it. Recently we've seen the mods go for as low as $74 and $79 and AKL and WL go for $109.

The AS are GREAT for a quick weekend! I also had trouble sleeping because of the toilets. Once I had to bring our humidfier for my son's cold. Guess what??? NO noise at all!!! So, I've brought it along on every trip. I also decided I didn't like the flat pillows there, so now I bring my own. When you don't have to fly,you are able to be more flexible with what you bring! We also bring a cooler with water, sodas, juice, milk, snacks, fruit, cereal. We save a lot on breakfast and snacks and are able to do at least one character meal per trip.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We usually stay at one of the All Stars, which my kids love, although I'd prefer POR-R, which we stayed at once. But my budget usually requires a value resort, which works for me.

Thanks for you post, I'm glad to hear good things about ASMovies, we will be staying there on our first trip to disney Aug 2-9.

We styed at the GF last summer and had the same complaint ;). Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at ASMo. We enjoyed ours at the ASMu and although I'd rather a Deluxe or a Moderate, I'd definitely stay at the AS again. There are actually things we prefer at the AS over the Deluxes :).

Glad you had such a nice time. It must be great to be able to go to WDW for just a weekend.
